What if nobody is coming?
No soulmate. No next husband. No gorgeous silver fox who finally understands your nervous system, remembers how you take your coffee, fucks you properly, and holds your hand while the two of you toddle adorably toward death.
Could you still build a fucking magnificent life?
Because there is a possibility nobody particularly likes talking about: you can heal your shit, become emotionally available, learn to communicate, masturbate like an Olympic event, manifest under twelve full moons, and still not find your person.
And if that possibility terrifies you, we should probably talk about it.
In this episode of The Well-Fucked Woman, Tanja and Suzy get into the strange, uncomfortable territory of being alone—and the enormous amount of energy women spend trying to make sure they never have to be.
There is dating because someone genuinely adds something extraordinary to your life.
And then there is auditioning humans because the silence in your house makes you want to crawl out of your skin.
Those produce very different relationships.
They talk about empty nests, losing pets, divorce, long-distance love, celibacy, identity shifts, solo travel, masturbation, hyper-independence, and the mildly horrifying question of who you are when nobody needs anything from you.
Because motherhood can end as a daily job. Careers change. Bodies change. Lovers leave. Children grow up. Partners die. Sometimes the identity you've been wearing disappears before you've figured out who the hell is underneath it.
And loneliness can make mediocre people look remarkably fuckable.
Tanja shares why she deliberately stopped dating and sat inside the possibility that she might never have another great love—and the freedom she discovered when finding a relationship stopped being a full-time fucking job.
Suzy talks about sitting alone in her suddenly silent house after losing her dog, her children no longer needing her every day, and realizing how much of life had been organized around roles that were changing underneath her.
Then they ask the question underneath all of it:
If you stopped treating being alone as a problem to solve, what kind of life would you create?
Because once you genuinely enjoy your own company, the admission price for entering your life gets considerably higher.
A relationship has to be worth the space it occupies and that changes who gets through the fucking door.
