“Here’s the thing. I’m friends with George Bush,” she said. “In fact, I’m friends with a lot of people who don’t share the same beliefs that I have. But just because I don’t agree with someone on everything doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be friends with them,” she added. “When I say, ‘Be kind to one another,’ I don’t only mean the people that think the same way that you do. I mean be kind to everyone.”

In this week’s Experience We-Ha podcast, recorded in the throes of election season, Ryan and Jeff sat down with Chris Williams and Liam Sweeney of the West Hartford Town Council. Although Chris and Liam don’t always agree on all issues, they have been friends since growing up in town when they first played on the same basketball team back in middle school and the level of respect for each other is evident. Eric Feeney, a local school teacher, had seen one too many young students deal with the tragedy of losing a loved one so he decided to start a local charity to help families deal with loss. This was the beginning of “Friends of Feeney,” and this coming weekend Eric is asking you to join them in the Park Road Parade on Oct. 5, starting in the parking lot of Prospect Cafe at 9 a.m., and then for the Global Cardboard Challenge at Elmwood Senior Center from 1-3 p.m.

Donations of cardboard boxes, duct tape, and non-perishable food items are very welcome!
