Good news everyone, North Korea has beaten the pandemic.

Yes. The supreme leader and owner of one of world politics' greatest hairstyles, Kim Jong-Un has declared the hermit kingdom has defeated COVID-19.

As residents of our own former hermit kingdom here in WA, it’s easy to understand why old mate Kim is so proud of his achievement.

The only problem is… who actually knows if its true.

It’s famously difficult to get ANY information on what life is really like for North Koreans, and it’s been no different during the pandemic.

The country has never revealed the total number of COVID cases it has, although at one point it was thought they had nearly 400,000 cases in the month of May alone.

But when they reported last month that they had no new cases, we didn’t really have much to compare that statement to.

One of the few things. the North Korean government has reported, is that the official death toll is just 74. But that’s about 500 less than even Western Australia.

And North Korea is a country of 26 million people... so, yeah, that’s pretty obviously bullshit.

Now that Kim Jong Un has defeated COVID… what happens next?

Well, some experts believe that this is really all ABOUT winding back strict COVID protocols, so the North Korean dictator can stage nuclear weapon tests.

Which is about the most on-brand thing that anyone has ever done.

Only time will tell if that’s the real agenda here.

But in the mean time, it would probably pay to take everything Kim Jong-Un says with a grain of salt.
