In this episode I call up someone I have known since we were high school baddies together. The Chip-Off-Her-Shoulder Bisexual Love-At-First-Sight Mother of Four Children and I talk about how the chip got on her shoulder in the first place, what it was like going to med school as one of the poor kids, to chuck the chip off her shoulder, and fall in love at first sight with her now-husband, and the father of their four children. We talk about how modeling healthy relationships sometimes can skip a generation, but that doesn't mean you can't come back to it, and how they are trying to make sure that their children see a healthy way of love, that involves conflict, resolution, and a deep admiration for one's partner, #captainamerica.

We talk about how she navigated this hurt during her newlywed year, how her and her partner got through it, and how he was there to catch her, even when it wasn't always easy.  Sometimes a hurt is so immense, that you don't know how you will come out on the other end, but you can choose who comes with. Though he felt like something was missing from his life, the Southern Gay Scientist didn't start to realize what it was until he hit college, and a lot of things started to fall into place. Now, in a long committed, and recently-ish open relationship of more than a decade, we talk about opening up without premeditation, how they have navigated this, and how it feels to be able to call someone home.
