What happens when life's wheels suddenly stop turning? In my latest podcast episode, I reveal the deeply personal journey behind my new EP "Asleep at the Wheel" - a title that's caused some confusion but carries profound meaning about life's purpose when everything changes.
For fourteen years, my life has been a rollercoaster of extreme highs and devastating lows. Many believed the "Swarn Sisters" era ended with my sister Lora' passing. "Lora's gone, Gina ain't gonna do anything," they said. And honestly, for a long time, I couldn't imagine recording without her - we were always a pair, doing everything together.
The EP features "Still There," a three-minute string composition dedicated to Lora, celebrating how "the Lord never left my sister, my sister never left the Lord." This project stands as testimony to resilience through unimaginable loss - not just Lora, but my beloved pastor, cherished friends, and talented musicians who've left this world. Through it all, I never stopped singing, despite what some might think. I wasn't just "twirling my hair and looking into the sunset" during my recording hiatus - I've been continuously working, healing, and preparing for this musical return.
Thank you to everyone who's patiently supported me through this journey. For those asking about the EP release date - hang tight! I'll soon share where to order it and which stations will feature it.
