Readings for the day 

11:4–6, 10–16, 24–29

When God provides everything that is needful… sometimes it is not what you want or when you want it. 

Israel look at the food from heaven and the cloth that never wore out and the water that came from rocks and it just was not enough. Certainly, we would never complain like the Israelites, right?

Unfortunately, we too are often more proficient at itemizing our grievances than counting our blessings. The truth is, at times, lacking is the only sermon that gets our attention. 

C.S. Lewis wrote: “We can rest contentedly in our sins and in our stupidities; and anyone who has watched gluttons shoveling down the most exquisite foods as if they did not know what they were eating, will admit that we can ignore even pleasure. But pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” 

If your lacking is great join us as God speaks past our wants with a greater message.
