* Classic Review: Series 2 of modern Doctor Who turns 20 this year, and so, to mark the occasion, we go far out into space and take a look at “The Impossible Planet” and “The Satan Pit”, discussing everything from philosophy, fear… and the Ood!

Hello, and welcome to the third episode of The Who Club podcast!

We’d like to start with a quick PSA on a couple of points. The first is that, due to an unfortunate technical issue, the sound quality of this episode is not up to the same standard as our first two. We can only apologise, and despite our best efforts to clean it up, there are some issues in places. It might be worth listening through headphones, just to make sure you catch everything. We suspect the issue may have been due to post-recording conversion, and we hope to eliminate it for future episodes.

The second note is that this episode was recorded before the BBC’s announcement on the 10th of June that the 2026 Christmas special has been cancelled. As such, there are a few references throughout that are now very outdated. Obviously, we will cover this news in full in the next episode, but as a heads-up, we wanted to let you know before you listen. Call the redundant references a ‘historical artefact’. :)

* Who News: We talk about the announcements surrounding “Circuit Breaker”, the upcoming multi-platform Doctor Who event, starring Jo Martin as the Fugitive Doctor!

* Classic Review: We continue and conclude our review of “The Dalek Invasion of Earth”, looking at explosion stock footage, the Slyther, and THAT ending!

* Who Debates: Tying into our review of “The Dalek Invasion of Earth”, we discuss and debate whether companion departures should be reserved and chaste - or if an emotional send-off is the way to pay tribute to the show’s audience identification figures?
