"Wabi-Sabi" your life, embrace imperfection, and find inner peace in the here and now. In episode 12 of the Wild Garden of Enlightenment Course on Awakening, we explore a radical version of acceptance--one of the most powerful of all spiritual paths. Wabi-Sabi is an ancient Taoist and Zen practice—often misunderstood as a curious old Japanese philosophy. It is really a powerhouse spiritual Teacher, and we might even find it is also a Spirit that can actually be felt and called upon for guidance. You may even find that it is a cosmic "Trickster," which once you engage with it, has peculiar, and quite mysterious ways of synchronizing itself with you in order to bring its teachings to life.
On its face, though, Wabi-Sabi is the humble teaching that the world is inherently imperfect, as are we all, and by accepting these facts, we remove a lot of the struggle, unnecessary tension and disappointment from life, allowing us to find joy and beauty in the most mundane moments. By intentionally practicing the delicate art of dropping our expectations and simply allowing things to be as they are, we may come to observe a hidden order beneath the world's chaos, a sort of perfection within the imperfection.
If you find yourself constantly rushing, battling the ego's need for control and judgement, or striving for an impossible standard of perfection in your life, your relationships, and your spiritual practice, this video is for you. Learn how to stop fighting the chaotic "forest" of your mind, accept it, and transcend suffering.
