This podcast episode is a companion piece to our video last week when local FLW Pro Angler Josh McDermott talked about the cull tag problem at Geist Reservoir and across the country (see the video here).

In this roundabout interview, Josh talks about how badly some bass anglers treat their catch, how the water company is trying to kill all the vegetation in the reservoir and the growing problem of homeowner/angler conflicts on the lake.  He even talks about a worse-case scenario of Geist becoming off-limits to anglers.  It might seem far-fetched but Josh explains why it could happen.

In the end, McDermott has a strong conservation message about the fish and sport he loves and while his opinions might ruffle some feather, he's straightforward, earnest and uncompromising on the topic of bass fishing and Geist Reservoir.

Capt. Bill Browne of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources discusses the new ATV helmet law that takes effective July 1, 2017.  The purpose of the law is to reduce serious injury and fatalities to youngsters who ride ATV's in Indiana.  Bill talks about how the law will be enforced and answers common questions.

Browne and host Brent Wheat also briefly veer into the news this week of a bull shark caught in Geist reservoir.

 The WildIndiana podcast talks to Reid Strobl, a young man who is making quite a buzz in high school and college bass fishing circles.

Reid led his Lawrenceburg High School football team to the 2016 state finals and had several college football programs interested in his quarterbacking abilities. However, Reid surprised them all when he signed on to fish at Dallas Baptist University, the top-ranked collegiate bass fishing program in the country.

WildIndiana Field Editor Don Cranill talks to Reid about how he became interested in competitive bass fishing and where he hopes to go both during his college career and afterward.

White river Wapahani trail goes from the north side to the near Southside starts at Riverside regional park near W. 29th St. and E. Riverside Dr. follows the white river from 38th St. on the northside to Raymond Street on the near Southside 

Pleasant Run Trail on the near Southside. Prospect Street and E. Pleasant Run Parkway is the pick up spot. Trail follows Pleasant run Creek from Ellenberger park in Irvington to Garfield Park

White river Greenway in Noblesville start at Potters Bridge Park at 19401 N. Allisonville Rd. in Noblesville. This trail follows the white river through Prairie woods and scenic overlooks at Noblesville's Potters Bridge Park
