The last several years I have taught a Bible class called, "Studies in the Sermon on the Mount". I typically break it into 7 sessions. This is the fourth of those 7 sessions. In this session we dive into the final warnings Jesus gives and his exhortation on the importance of building our lives on the foundational kingdom values articulated in the Sermon on the Mount.

In this session we cover what I describe as 3 Means of Grace. Jesus describes 3 practical expressions of righteousness that position us to receive more grace to further walk in righteousness: Giving, Prayer, and Fasting.

In this session we cover six major hindrances to the growth of the beatitudes in our life, as Jesus shows us what it looks like to fulfill the Law and the Prophets, thus having a righteousness that is greater than the Scribes and Pharisees.

In this session I give my understanding of what it means to be "Salt and Light", and what it means to have a righteousness that exceeds that of the scribes and pharisees through fulfilling the Law and Prophets.

In this session I give my understanding of why it is "blessed" to hunger and thirst for righteousness, show mercy, be pure in heart, make peace, and be persecuted for righteousness sake.

I basically talk about why we should care about the Sermon on the Mount, how we should go about studying it, and begin to give some of the background context for the Sermon.
