Good evening. Wisconsin. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Folks, we're tracking a historic winter storm, this could be the biggest snowmaker since April 2018. Here comes heavy snow, mixed precipitation. And dangerous winds creating blizzard conditions from tonight straight through Monday.
Here's how this plays out. Snow develops around 8 P.M. In the southwest, spreading northeast toward Green Bay by midnight. You'll see a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain overnight, especially north of Milwaukee. Lows hover around 31 degrees in Milwaukee but fall to 29 near Green Bay. Winds increase from the east at 15 to 20 miles an hour.
Sunday morning brings a messy mix, sleet and freezing rain are likely before temperatures rise. Rain is expected near Milwaukee and Madison, with highs nearing 52 degrees, however, up north, heavy snow continues. Highs in Green Bay struggle to reach 33 degrees, winds shift northeast and gust to 45 miles an hour.
Sunday night, the storm intensifies, rain changes back to heavy snow statewide. Blizzards are likely in central and northern Wisconsin with winds gusting over 50 miles an hour. Temperatures crash. Lows drop to 19 in Milwaukee but plummet to near 15 in Green Bay. Travel will become impossible.
Moving on. Dangerous conditions persist into Monday, heavy snow and blowing snow continue statewide. Highs only reach 24 in the southeast and 21 in the northeast, while wind chills could drop below zero.
Looking ahead. Looking at the week ahead. Tuesday brings sunshine and cold air, with highs near 24. Light snow returns Tuesday night into Wednesday. Milder weather builds in Thursday and Friday, with highs climbing into the upper 40s.
Get your supplies ready now, you'll not want to be on the roads come morning. โ
See you tomorrow.
