Your money story doesn't start with your first paycheck. It starts in the homes you grew up in and the people who sat at the table with you. In this episode, Prea steps away from frameworks and formal lessons to tell a personal story: the story of two women who shaped how she sees money, giving, and abundance through how they lived.
At the center is "Grandmom," Prea's great aunt who raised her, fed her, fussed over her, and handed her a credit card in the middle of a financial crisis without hesitation. Alongside her is another woman who co-signed a loan so Prea could return to school and whose story of delayed dreams became a permanent lesson in why "someday" isn't a plan.
This episode is about legacy, generosity from abundance instead of fear, and the quiet, intangible lessons that shape our relationship with money long before we ever open a bank account.

In our last episode, I got real with you about my own story. This week, we go deeper into the why behind it all.
You can follow every budgeting book, every expert's step-by-step plan, and still find yourself stuck in the same financial cycles because the real work has to start on the inside first.
I'm joined by Dr. Tiffany Mimms, licensed clinical psychologist and founder of the Rosetta Center for Counseling and Wellness in Sacramento, CA. Together, we unpack how unresolved trauma, grief, and rejection can quietly shape the way we earn, spend, save, and avoid money and what it can look like to begin healing.
If you have ever wondered why you keep repeating financial patterns you promised yourself you would break, this conversation is for you.

Some origin stories start with a dream. Mine started with loss.
This is the episode I had to record before we could talk about anything else. From losing both of my parents by age ten, to a marriage that collapsed under financial stress, to bankruptcy, to buying my dream home. This is a story about resilience, recovery, and learning that your past does not determine your financial future.
In this episode, we discuss how childhood experiences shape our money habits, the stigma surrounding bankruptcy, the impact of student loan debt, and the mindset shift that helped me move from surviving to thriving. If you've ever felt ashamed of your financial situation, overwhelmed by debt, or convinced you're too far behind to create the life you want, this episode is for you.
