Trish DiFranco, who is a lifelong fan of SNL and was a brief intern on the show during season 30, shares her unique experiences from inside the Writer’s Room. We’re also joined by Stephanie Trivison again (remember her 3-page boyband Google Doc?), and the four of us sat down to discuss the gender politics and roles of the women on the show, and how things have – and haven’t – changed since it all began. We find out all about who gave the best hugs, what it was like to witness the highlight of Debbie Downer moments, and whose cigarette butt Trish is hiding in a secret box in her upstairs closet (but not in a creepy way).

Correction:

In the podcast, we mentioned that Tiffany Haddish was the first Black woman to host SNL—this is incorrect, although she was the first Black female comedian to host. Even though we were wrong about her being the first Black woman ever, she is only the 12th, so this is still a major weak point in the show’s growth and evolution.
