On the latest episode of The Wonderer's Podcast! The Wonderer's talk break the news about the ongoing strikes actors and other members of the industry are partaking in. Apparently, Hollywood has been a little greedier than usual, to the point where Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists when on strike due to things like unfair treatment, bad working conditions, unfair pay, and the hottest thing now: A.I. Moving to infinity and beyond, Starfield (as this was being recorded) is now at the midst of release! With so much hype around the newest IP that Bethesda has released in ten years, Jared and Retro take some time to discuss the game from a more objective stand-point. They talk about Bethesda's past titles and their limitations, their legacy of always being buggy, and speculations on the ambitiousness of the game.
After, The Wonderers discuss the upcoming Metal Gear Collection being released by Konami sometime soon. The Collection right off the bat includes the first Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear 2: Sons of Libery, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It looks like the 3 games in the collection are part of a bigger collection Konami is releasing with the first collection being called Volume 1. Nick then pointed out how supposed "leaks" of the second volume could include MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots, MGS: Peace Walker, and the last official title by Hideo Kojima: MGS 5: The Phantom Pain. The question was then brought up whether or not Kojima would even bother "finishing" the game because when the game was being developed, Konami decided release the game without the real canonical ending due to deadlines. Following MGS 5's released, Kojima and Konami ended their working relationship on very unfavorable terms.
Moving forward, the Wonderers kicked the dead horse by circling around once again on the state of the Marvel cinematic Universe. Specifically, on how Loki season 2 would play out. After the MCU chatter, the Wonderers talked how Quake 2 of all games did a stealth drop (no widespread announcements, or major chatter) on its release. In a not so subtle manner, Microsoft announced that the Xbox Live Gold is going away, and in its place is a new version of the service. Microsoft has announced that Xbox Live Gold is going to be ending in September, while being replaced with Xbox Game Pass Core. Across the sea, Russia tried in absentia the author of the Metro book series that inspired such games like: Metro: 2033, Metro: Last Light, and Metro: Exodus.
Upon lighter things, both Jared and Nicholas shared their thoughts on the latest literally me movie: Barbie. The movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling was a delight for both of the Wonderers. They then break down what made the movie so good and give their individual ratings in the end. Jared then went over the most Industry shaking release this year: Baldur's Gate 3. The game came with a tidal wave of praise, while receiving a riptide of negative hot takes. The game was praised for how a game could be released complete with no microtransactions and remain a complete experience. Many developers objected towards such an idea on X (formally Twitter). As the Wonderers scoffed at such hilarious takes, Jared wrapped up the episode reviewing and sharing his experience on Amnesia: The Bunker, the latest release from Frictional Games.
