We’ve all made them — mistakes and decisions we look back on and think, “That wasn’t very smart.” Maybe we’ve made them more frequently than we’d like to admit. Is there a way to avoid them? (Or at least keep from repeating them?) How do we find the source of true wisdom and experience the benefits? In this series you’ll learn how to start living wisely.

This weekend we are celebrating what God is doing in and through the Rebelbase Student Ministry at The Woodlands Methodist Church. Our 7th through 12th grade students will be joining us in worship as Rev. Mark Swayze continues our series in Proverbs. We are so excited to hear the incredible things God is doing through this rising generation of young people!

Hey, friends, and thank you for joining us in worship today! It’s my sincere prayer that you both feel welcome here and sense the presence of God’s Holy Spirit as we worship during our time together.

I’m so glad you’re here because today is a special moment in the life of our church. I truly believe that this day is an historic moment in which I share God’s call to the next step in our season of denominational discernment. I invite you to join other members of our church in upholding the traditional Christian doctrines of our faith and carrying them forward in faith.

John Calvin once said, “The human heart is an idol factory.” Our modern idols might not look like a golden calf, but they are just as dangerous to our souls. In this series, we’ll get honest about the things we are tempted to put on God’s throne. Through it all, we’ll see that God hates idolatry because He loves YOU so much. And we love you, too.
