One of the reasons Jesus stands out as the most unique person who ever lived can be found in the fact that He knew how to speak the language of people’s hearts. Chapter 12 of the Gospel of Mark says, “And the common people heard him gladly.” This means that Jesus was able to convey the Word of God in such a way that everyone who heard Him could understand and respond to His teaching. He painted pictures with His words. He used simple things that were easily identifiable: coins, salt, light, water and many other symbols. In this sermon series, Faith Grows Here, we will be highlighting how Jesus used the images of seeds, trees and plants to help His followers understand that if we, too, hear Him gladly, His words can sink deeply into the soil of our souls, allowing us to grow as well.
