              • Chris – I just got my first table saw! Hooray! I noticed that none of you use the guard on your saws. Though I am confident with and have a healthy respect for the power of the saw and keep away from the saw as much as possible, I am still a newbie. Would you recommend me use the guard? How long until I “graduate” and can take it off?
              • Paul – I was wondering about “work flow” when setting up a shop. I have heard this term many time but truthfully I am not sure if I understand what it actually is and how to actually look at my space and try to determine how to set it up. Can you discuss what work flow is and how to think about workflow when setting up a shop?
              • Rob Sloyer – I’ve heard all of you mention your compressor setups, and it sounds like you all have pretty large, 220v?, 50+ gallon, compressors. Can you guys talk about compressed air in a little more detail? What compressor do You use, why, and what would you do the same Or differently if buying today? What air tools do you use and for what tasks? What advice do you have regarding compressed air, compressors, and air tools.

                        • Tom Meaney…What is your favorite thing you have learnt from another youtuber that has either just really helped you out of a problem, been a light bulb moment or just something you never knew? Woodworking or other.
                        • daddywoofdawg – What is the sizes of screws and bolts that you seem to use the most (keep stocked).I.e You lost all your screws, bolts,So you had to restock, what sizes of screws and bolts would you get when you went to the hardware store? The reason i ask is I always seem to never have enough or have the right sizes,So I wanted to start stocking some different sizes, that will cover most projects.

                                  • John Martin: The three of you talked about your PC station, desktop, will it be possible for you to give us some kind of quick backstage tour showing your editing equipment, room, softwares ? Just a little video like Jay has done about his camera gear/tips and tricks.
                                  • Derek: My shop is effectively a deck at the cottage with a small building to store my tools. When I work I pull stuff out on the deck and when I’m done I put it all away. This means I don’t have a workbench, and I’d really like one. Jay’s workbench looks awesome, and I’d like to make something like that. The problem is it would have to live outdoors. Is it worth trying to build a workbench like Jay’s that has to be outdoors? What might be done differently in constructing it, and finishing it to help it survive the weather? I’m curious what thoughts you might have on a project like this and whether I should attempt it, or just stick with the saw horses and old door I use now.
                                  • David Joyner: I’m planning a dust collector install for a new shop. One thing I haven’t decided on yet is ceiling vs wall mount for the pipe. From videos it looks like ceiling-mount is pretty popular but I noticed Jay runs his along his knee wall. That looks a lot more convenient. Do you have any advice and, Jay, would you make this same decision again?

I am looking to see if there is anything I may be missing to speed up getting the right size / width set up when making a cut. I’s there a short cut to get the right combination of blades and shims the first time? Or is a fiddling thing?

However, I have a project which requires a much larger bit. Can you discuss router HP vs bit diameter vs cutter speed in relation to material height. Specifically, material thicker stock 1.75 but less than 3″ thicknesses for locking miters and also raised panels both horizontal and vertical orientations.
                                                      • Jason Browder – I am a beginning woodworker and I am going to build an L-shaped computer desk so one side will be for my computer and the other for the kids computer. I would like to know what woods I could use for the top of the desk. With 2 11 year old boys it needs to be somewhat tough. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also I live just south of April so if she has any suggestion on where to go to get some good wood I would appreciate that as well.

I have noticed that even simple shop projects seem to be using very nice plywood or hardwood. What do you consider when selecting materials or projects? Do any of you have a video that has gone ‘viral’? What would you consider this threshold to be and would you ever build a project to specifically have this effect? (Steve Ramsey has mentioned doing just that and it was hit or miss). Do you believe it would be worth trying?

I have plenty of room is bigger better, or should I go something more conservative. I was thinking 2400 x 2400mm (8′ x 8′) and making part of it a work bench or would this be overkill.
                                                                              Keep up the great work!!

                                                                                • April first found a place for her tablesaw, which requires the most infeed and outfeed, then placed everything else around it.

Jay mentioned using cardboard to keep glue off his bench during glue-ups and I think Nick mentioned stud finders at Costco. While at Costco I collect the pieces of cardboard that come between layers of products on the pallets. They let me have it for free, I think because they have to pay to get rid of it (hence them pushing boxes at the checkout). I’ve found two types there, thicker poster board (think cereal box weight) and a thinner brown type slightly heavier than paper grocery bags. Both are also great for templating. Hope you and the folks listening in find this useful. Cheers! Tracy.

I currently work out of a small garage and am pretty cramped for space. Thanks for the input guys.
