Why is all this happening to me- Spurgeon offers some possible reasons. Part one of two.

After showing several ways the spirit can be wounded, and the ultimate wound of the one who seeks after God's salvation, Spurgeon speaks of the cure for such wounds. Powerful as always.

Christ did not please Himself. He is our Example in this. Pleasing those near to you is a Divine way of life.

So you are a liberated brother who has no serious conscience issues about the questionables- Great. But can you be free this way in such a manner that no weaker brother is made to stumble--Romans, Part 122.

And since that is true, argues Spurgeon, it is time that we take our hearing and seeing to others that they can hear and therefore see-

Proper hearing brings us to proper seeing of spiritual things.

World peace is not the Christian's objective. Personal and Church peace are our domains. The Roman church was obviously a divided one. Paul prescribes the remedy.

Nothing in myself. Everything in Him. When will we learn this-

Christ has made you free. Great. Has he made you loving enough to forfeit some of your liberty for a weaker brother- That would be greater.

Says Spurgeon, Those who trust in their perceived strength will surely fail. That strength takes the form of knowledge, wisdom, experience. None of it will avail. Trust Christ and Christ alone.-Excellent word-
