Dr Luke records a striking account of hospitality gone wrong.

His writing in Luke and Acts is full of carefully chosen words.

In this account there are several words which vividly illuminate what is happening.

They diagnose precisely what went wrong.

Here the doctor writes about the Great Physician in language that cannot but challenge us too.

Are we willing to submit our hospitality and service to an examination?

Jesus keeps His promises.

He said He would rise on the third day.

The news of His resurrection hasn't yet reached the two men going to Emmaus.

But they have a suspicion that since it is the third day something big might have happened.

It has!

Sometimes Christians dissociate from God.

They change colour like a chameleon to suit the background.

We look like Christians in church and non-Christians elsewhere.

We'd better not do this because Jesus says He will be ashamed of us when He comes if we're ashamed of Him now.
