Happy Easter!!! What are you looking for? Every time I think about Easter I remember kids running around looking for Easter eggs filled with candy. But the first people looking for something on Easter were the women looking for Jesus in the tomb. We are all looking for something or someone. No matter how hard we are looking we won't find what we are looking for in a tomb. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them." while He was suffering on a cross, dying for the people who rejected and crucified Him. Good Friday is the day we gather to remember Jesus' death for us. We take time to confess our sins and nail them to the cross. Jesus paid for all our sin and gives us forgiveness. Thank you Jesus!

The night before Jesus suffered and gave His life for us, he had dinner with His closest friends. In the middle of dinner Jesus gives Himself and reminds them to "do this in remembrance of me". We continue to share Communion to remember the Lord's death for us and look forward to celebrating it with Jesus in eternity. 

Life is hard. Today we celebrate Palm Sunday, remembering the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem as King. The crowds praised God and cheered for Jesus to take the thrown, but Jesus didn’t give them what they wanted. Days later Jesus gave them what needed as he gave his life on the cross. Life is hard for us too and Jesus doesn’t give us everything we want. Life is hard, so we pray. God, can't you hear me?! Why aren't you answering my prayers? Or maybe we should say it like it is; God why aren't you giving me what I want when I pray? Today we are discussing prayer, our selfish desires and how they don't get along very well. But don't worry, there's good news too. God gives us the Holy Spirit to help us as we pray and lead us to confession.

Pastor, I thought you said I didn’t have to do anything?! It's true, we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We can't DO anything to earn God's grace, it's a gift. So what does James mean when he says be Doers of the Word? That's what we will be discussing today. God is calling us to be Doers of His Word.
