  • Ep. 7: Bond 25 Going to Space with Christopher Nolan???, Ranking the Roger Moore Bond Films
Break out those laser guns because we are getting galactic in Episode 7 of The Words Are Not Enough!

In this episode Griffin (@griffschiller) and Brody (@brodyserravalli) discuss the following:

    Tomorrow Never Lies
    * Daniel Craig wants Monica Bellucci (AKA MILF CITY) to return as the Bond girl for Bond 25
    * An anonymous source at the Mirror claims that Daniel Craig wants Monica Bellucci to return as Lucia Sciarra in Bond 25, stating, "He wants Monica Bellucci back, that’s for sure.”
    * Bond 25 is getting galactic and Daniel Craig loves it
    * Once again coming from the Mirror, rumour has it that tech billionaire noted Bond fan, Elon Musk, has pitched taking Bond 25 into the stratosphere and is said to be developing ideas for a spacecraft; and reportedly Daniel Craig loves it. The anonymous source said the following:
    * "Bond needs to keep up with the times and will be looking into Elon Musk’s world – spacecrafts, planes that can fly across the earth in an hour, cars turning into submarines. That’s what we need to include now. Daniel’s stunts are going to move to a new level and have to include things shown in space movies like Interstellar. He is involved every step of the way, as he always is, and is bursting with enthusiasm and excitement.”
    * Speculation that Bond 25 is looking to film in South Africa may also corroborate Musk's involvement.
    * Christopher Nolan being eyed to take Bond 25 in a “Completely Different Direction”
    * An "insider" at Hollywood Life has reportedly caught wind that EON wants to take Bond in a radically "different direction" in Bond 25. And apparently, despite various big names being circulated for the covered directing role, Christopher Nolan is producers' Barbra Broccoli and Michael G Wilson top pick to steer the franchise down this new path. The source added that “The producers don’t want him to be the ladies’ man he has been known for and actually want him to get married. Everyone feels Christopher would be the best to steer the film in the direction they are seeking.”
    * This is contrary to comments Nolan has previously made regarding a timeline for joining the franchise.
    * Quantum, Skyfall and Spectre Production Designer returning for Bond 25
    * In an interview with ICG magazine, Dennis Gassner, production designer for every Bond film since Quantum of Solace, let slip that he would be returning to the franchise once again in Bond 25.
    * With franchises, you have to honor the established elements while meeting audience expectations. I’m about to do my fourth James Bond film, and acknowledging the efforts of Ken Adam and others is a big part."
    * Rory Kinnear OUT for Bond 25?
    * It seems Rory Kinnear's role as MI6 Chief of Staf Bill Tanner isn't as locked in as one would have thought. In an interview with The Times, Kinnear said, "Each film they make they say yay or nay. But it's been great fun, and an utterly unexpected element of my life. I don't know if I am in the next one, and I never have done until they give you the call."
    *
    * Roger Moore’s 90th Birthday
    * October 14th was the late, great Sir Roger Moore's birthday. Rog would have been 90.

    Q-Branch
    * Roger Moore honored at Pinewood Studios
    * To commemorate Sir Roger's birthday, The Roger Moore State was officially opened at Pinewood on Sunday.
    * Close friends of Moore, including Dame Joan Collins, Sir Michael Caine, and Stephen Fry attended the opening, along with producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
    * James Bond Funko Pops coming this December
    * Discuss the figures, other Bond characters we’d like to see given the Funko treatment, etc.
    * James Bond Collection coming to Hulu
    * If you don't own all the Bond movies on blu-ray, never fear, Hulu is getting 21 Bond movies this November — basically all of the official EON...

  • Ep. 5: Denis Villeneuve to direct Bond 25?, Top 5 Directors to tackle a Bond film
Put that Gondola boat car into gear because it's time for Episode 5 of The Words Are Not Enough!

In this episode Griffin (@griffschiller) and Brody (@brodyserravalli) discuss the following:

    Tomorrow Never Lies
    * Craig Wants Denis Villenueve to direct Bond 25
    * According to the The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye, Denis Villeneuve has spoken with Daniel Craig along with producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson about coming on-board as director for Bond 25. Further more, the report indicates that Craig has thrown his weight behind Villeneueve has his personal pick to helm the project.
    * This corroborates with a report from Deadline in June that claimed Villeneuve was one of three front-runners for the coveted job.
    * However, a more recent report from Deadline has thrown some doubt on Villeneuve's availability, positing that Villeneuve is in early talks with Sony to direct a Cleopatra biopic. This report comes on top of a Dune remake that Villeneuve is also rumored to be attached to.
    * Thomas Newman Returning for Bond 25
    * Omega Underground has allegedly come across a production listing for Bond 25 that, while not detailing a director or story synopsis, appears to reveal that composer Thomas Newman will return to the franchise to score Bond 25. Newman scored Skyfall and Spectre and was previously assumed to be leaving the series with the departure of his frequent collaborator Sam Mendes, but this production list suggests he may be sticking around.
    * Honor Bernie Casey
    * Bernie Casey, who played Felix Leiter in the unofficial James Bond film, Never Say Never Again, died September 19th, 2017, at the age of 78 after brief illness.

    Q-Branch
    * David Bowie’s awkward relationship with Sir Roger Moore
    * In a new biography by Dylan Jones, ' David Bowie: A Life', there is an interesting tale of when David Bowie befriended Roger Moore. Sometime in the 1970s, Bowie moved to Switzerland (to avoid the oppressive tax regime of the UK at the time) despite not knowing anyone in the country. But 007 was just down the road. Oscar-nominated scriptwriter and novelist Hanif Kureishi provided this anecdote for the book.
    * One day, about half-past five in the afternoon, there’s a knock on the door, and there he was: ‘Hello, David.’ Roger Moore comes in, and they had a cup of tea. He stays for drinks, and then dinner, and tells lots of stories about the James Bond films. They had a fantastic time - a brilliant night."
    * "But then, the next day, at 5.30… Knock, knock, it’s Roger Moore. He invites himself in again, and sits down: ‘Yeah, I’ll have a gin and tonic, David.’ He tells the same stories – but they’re slightly less entertaining the second time around."
    * "After two weeks [of Moore turning up] at 5.25pm – literally every day – David Bowie could be found underneath the kitchen table pretending not to be in.”
    * Bowie was later offered the role of Max Zorin for 1985's 'A View To A Kill' but turned it down.
    * Sir Roger Moore's official Twitter has disputed the validity of the story, calling it 'not true at all.'

  • Ep. 4: How James Bond Influenced Kingsman
Manners Maketh Man. It's time for Episode 4 of The Words Are Not Enough!

In this episode Griffin (@griffschiller) and Brody (@brodyserravalli) discuss the following:

    Tomorrow Never Lies:
    - Taron Egerton wants to be the next Bond

Speaking with the Daily Mail on the red carpet for the world premiere of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Taron Egerton was asked if he would ever consider taking on the iconic role of 007: “If I was asked, yeah. Amazing. Amazing - of course!”

When asked to compare Eggsy to Bond, Egerton said the following: “I don't know how much better [Eggsy] is ... I think he's quite a nice alternative. Bond is, you know, eternally super cool and clean cut and sharp. Eggsy is too, but Eggsy doesn't always get it right and I think that's the fun of Eggsy. He's not quite formed yet. Maybe one day he'll be James Bond but, for now, he isn’t.”

    Q Branch:
    - ELEMENTS installation

According to 007.com, 007 ELEMENTS will be an installation celebrating the cinematic history of Bond. Opening this winter, the installation is built inside the summit of the Gaislachkogl Mountain in Sölden, which fans may recognize as the Hoffler Clinic from SPECTRE. The name 007 ELEMENTS reflects the visitor’s journey through a series of galleries, each distilling the craft of the signature elements that define a James Bond film. The installation will focus on SPECTRE, as it was shot in Sölden, but will also feature other titles in the James Bond franchise.

The collaboration between the project’s Creative Director Neal Callow (Art Director on CASINO ROYALE, QUANTUM OF SOLACE, SKYFALL and SPECTRE) and Optimist Inc. Head of Design Tino Schaedler is intended to put visitors inside the world of Bond

    - New Bond Book Covers
Vintage UK, an imprint of Penguin, will be releasing three new hardback designs of James Bond novels in time for Christmas this year. 'Casino Royale', 'Live And Let Die', and 'Goldfinger' were selected as the 'best-loved' Ian Fleming novels according to Vintage Editor Nick Skidmore

The covers themselves were created by Budapest-based graphic designer and illustrator Levente Szabó and pull together the central characters and motifs from each book into a silhouette of the villain.

  • Ep. 3: Top 5 Actors to Play James Bond, Female Director to Tackle Bond 25?
Screw on your silencer because it's time for Episode 3 of The Words Are Not Enough!

In this episode Griffin (@griffschiller) and Brody (@brodyserravalli) discuss the following:

    Tomorrow Never Lies
    * New remarks regarding the internet’s top pick to succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond have been made, one of which coming straight from the camel’s mouth!
    * While at TIFF promoting his new film Suburbicon, George Clooney sat down with Variety to discuss a myriad of topics one of which happened to be who he thinks should play the next 007. Clooney said the following:
    * “I think Idris Elba should be the next James Bond, I think it’s insane that you wouldn’t. He’s elegant and handsome and masculine. He would be a perfect James Bond and it would be a great step forward.”
    * It appears that Clooney has hopped on board the Idris Elba train along with a large portion of the online community and it’s not hard to see why. Elba certainly brings a swagger and hardened edge to past roles that suites Bond quite well and if one were to want a glimpse at what an Idris Elba James Bond would resemble, they need not look further than his acclaimed BBC show Luther.
    * This is all well and good, however just today, Buzzfeed released an interview they had with the British actor and he had a few thoughts on the want for him to take on the role:
    * “I think not,” he said seriously of ever playing the role, and then immediately smiled. “But you really need to ask the producers. Like I can just,” he mimed picking up a telephone, “'Hey, I’m gonna play Bond next! No, it’s Idris. Hello?’ No one wants it.”
    * So it looks like the man himself doesn’t think his chances fair well for portraying the next Bond after Daniel Craig’s Swan song.
    * It’s important to note though that Elba has gotten tired of the constant questioning and demand to play the character, so his response here definitely echoes what he’s been saying all along.
    * Thoughts on the internet’s obsession with Elba playing Bond, would he be a good fit
    * With Bond 25 looming on the horizon, more rumors have begun to circulate regarding who will direct the project.
    * It looked to be almost certain that ’71 director Yann Demange had it in the bag, however even though he is still suspected to be the frontrunner, producer Barbara Broccoli had some interesting things to say on the matter.
    * While discussing her new film “Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool” with Screen Daily, the Bond Producer was asked for what she felt the chances were of having a female behind the camera on the upcoming Bond 25, Broccoli said the following:
    * There are a lot of women working on this production which pleases me very much. It’s incredibly important to support a change in front of and behind the camera. I love working with women. It’s a different vibe. We have to promote women within the industry. Women are often tasked with taking care of children and ailing parents, so it’s hard for some women to sustain a career in this industry. We have to be more family-friendly, with childcare, flexible hours and job shares. At Eon, we have a lot of women doing job sharing and it’s easy with technology.
    * So while not a straight answer on specifically the possibility of a female director taking over, it certainly does seem that Babs is very much in favor of a larger role for women in film and thus one could only assume is open to a female helmed Bond film.
    * If they were to select a female director, what director or directors would you like to see take on a Bond project?
    * With the recent announcement of Star Wars Episode 9 pushing it’s release date back from May 24th, 2019 to December 20th, 2019 and the release of Wonder Woman 2 scheduled for December 13, 2019, one has to wonder if these box office behemoths will have an effect on the amount of money Bond 25 will make?

  • Ep. 2: Apple & Amazon Fight for Bond Rights, Beyonce Singing the Bond 25 Song
Get fitted for your tux because it's time for Episode 2 of The Words Are Not Enough!

In this episode Griffin (@griffschiller) and Brody (@brodyserravalli) discuss the following:

    Tomorrow Never Lies
    * James Bond Rights
    * http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/apple-amazon-join-race-james-bond-film-rights-1035539
    * Fresh off the presses today is some new development into which company may land the film distribution rights to the highly coveted James Bond franchise.
    * While Warner Bros. remains in the lead to land film distribution rights, Apple and Amazon have unexpextedly thrown their hats into the ring.
    * MGM has been looking for a deal for more than two years, and Sony, Universal and Fox had also been pursuing the property, with Warners and Sony the most aggressive.
    * However, according to sources in contact with the Hollywood Reporter, the tech giants are willing to spend in the same ballpark as Warners, if not much more, for the rights.
    * They consider Bond one of the last untapped brands (like a Marvel, Pixar or Lucasfilm) that could act as a game-changer in the content space. Apple’s and Amazon’s inclusion in the chase would indicate that more is on the table than film rights, including the future of the franchise if MGM will sell or license out for the right price.
    * Sources say newly arrived executives Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht (former co-presidents of Sony Pictures Television) are spearheading the effort on Apple’s behalf - suggesting they may be interested in also bringing Bond to television stating, “In the world of Lucasfilm and Marvel, Bond feels really underdeveloped"
    * Valuation of the franchise may be anywhere between $2 billion and $5 billion, says an insider.
    * Other sources insist that, at this stage, Eon producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson remain traditional in their outlook and that theatrical movies are their main concern
    * Beyonce recording Bond 25 song
    * Natural when the release date and return of Daniel Craig was announced for Bond 25 the rumor mill started to churn in regards to who will sing the main title song for Craig’s final outing.
    * According to Daily Star, Beyonce is in talks to record the theme song for Bond 25.
    * The singer has reportedly held meetings with leading Bond producers, and could even rope in husband Jay-Z to perform the title track.
    * According to a source allegedly close to Beyonce "This is the only project she is remotely interested in right now.”
    * “To tie-up a deal with Beyoncé for a theme song for Daniel’s fifth appearance as 007 would really be the icing on the cake”, an MGM studio executive reportedly added.
    * It’s important to note that the pop star has not confirmed that the rumor is true, in fact when Billboard reached out for a comment, a rep replied simply with “This is a rumor."
    * Bond 25 Plot details
    * Over the past couple of days, new details regarding the potential plot of Bond 25 have emerged and needless to say have gotten a lot of people talking.
    * According to Page Six a Hollywood insider is reporting that "Bond quits the secret service, and he’s in love and gets married.” The source continues that “his wife then gets killed,” bringing Bond back into action.
    * The source says that as the next film opens, they are in wedded bliss. “The film’s like ‘Taken’ with Bond,” says the source, who adds that the suave spy is trying to avenge his wife’s murder.
