Advocacy isn't always a loud speech or a political movement—sometimes, it’s just a small conversation at a restaurant or in a classroom.
In this episode, I’m diving deep into what advocacy looks like in my everyday life. I talk about the incredible support I have at school and home, but I also get real about the challenges of navigating the public world. From making sure I’m the one ordering my own dinner to the "prep work" of calling movie theaters for audio description equipment, advocacy is the bridge that lets me be a participant in life rather than just an observer.
I also have a specific message for my sighted listeners on how to be an ally without overstepping. Real advocacy is about standing with the visually impaired community, not in front of us.
Join me as I discuss why speaking up is a responsibility—not just for myself, but for every blind person who walks into the room after me.
