The World of Eora is a news & lore podcast about the fantasy setting created by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
This week's episode focuses on two (of the four) companions our Avowed player character ("The Envoy") will be able to travel with: MARIUS and YATZLI. Both of these characters have their own ancestry and background, some of which we can tie to lore from the Pillars of Eternity games. As well, I dive back into Grounded (for those that care).

This week's episode caps off the lore from last week (St. Waidwen & Saint's War) by talking about the Godhammer Bomb (the thing that ended the Saint's War...and St. Waidwen, I suppose), the Dozens (a faction which arose from a dozen self-sacrificing soldiers), and what REALLY happened at Evon Dewr bridge (where the bomb was detonated).

This week's episode is all about the Saint's War (a monumental and paradigm changing moment within the history of Eora) and the key figure in that war: St. Waidwen (who was apparently inhabited by one of the gods of this world: Eothas).

This week's episode is about the beloved companion from both Pillars of Eternity games: "Edér Teylecg". We discuss his story from before we meet him in Pillars 1, and follow his narrative right up until the end of Deadfire.
Spoilers pertaining to his side quests are in this episode, however they are well telegraphed if you want to listen to some of the episode spoiler-free.

Boy howdy is this episode a long one. But hey, there was ALOT to go over. If you're new this show, World of Eora, is about Pillars of Eternity & Avowed (since they both share the same fantasy world). Mostly I focus on lore, today I'm putting a balanced focus on news and lore.
Now, here's the thing (and I say this at the start of the episode) - because this episode is uncharacteristically long, I'm not going to have another episode up next week. Simply so that those of you who budget their podcast time can catch up. As well, though, it's a good time for me to take a week of with my family. I've been considering taking the week of a stat holiday off of recording anyways, so this is a good chance to try that.
Anyways, so, listen to this as fast or as slow as you want, there isn't an episode next week. Hope y'all enjoy!

Hi Everyone,
With a personally busy week and weekend combined with the MASSIVE amount of stuff we saw for Avowed this week, I simply cannot keep up with all of it (I haven't even seen all the videos all the way through or read/skimmed all the articles yet). So, I'm making the decision to post-pone a full episode until next week to do an overview of it all.
That said, I caught ONE thing amongst all the news that caught my attention. A weapon in Avowed called "Drawn in Winter" shares a similar naming scheme to a Pillars of Eternity dagger called "Drawn In Spring"; the funny thing is... the lore written in Drawn in Spring's item description has something to do with the Living Lands... mayhaps it describes something we could find in Avowed?

This week's episode is about a rather important nation in the "new world", called READCERAS. Originally the colony of Aedyr, and then the Divine Kingdom of Readceras, this nation has it's own interesting origins/history that leads to one of the most important events in recent history (in relation to Pillars 1): The Saint's War.

This week's episode is a continuation of the "History of Eora" series I am plinking away at, where we look at the esoteric in-game "History of Eora" lore-books from the Forgotten Sanctum DLC in the second Pillars games. This week, I focus on Dyrwood related tomes (Dyrwood being the setting for Pillars 1), which results in a shorter episode (which I do on purpose, just getting back into the swing of things post-vacation). We learn about the very first Hollowborn (and what it is) as well as the inciting events that founded the nation of Readceras.

Hey, I'm on vacation this week, so no new full episode...BUT I didn't wanna leave y'all hanging so here's a quick little episode about one giant piece of news, followed by two minutes of me making mistakes in a few podcast episodes over the many months of this show's existence. I hope (some of) you will enjoy it.

This week's episode is regarding a Wael-affiliated faction (Wael being the god of dreams/mysteries/secrets/revelations) "The Hand Occult", whose primary focus is the control of flow of esoteric knowledge.
