At least 15 people have died on the Caribbean island of Dominica and many homes are destroyed beyond repair after Hurricane Maria devastated the country this week, Dominica's prime minister said Thursday. In an emotional interview with ABS Television, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said the death toll is likely to rise and search and rescue missions are ongoing.

Rescue workers backed by an army of untrained volunteers searched for survivors buried under mounds of rubble as the death toll from Tuesday’s powerful earthquake climbed to at least 237 across central Mexico. The 7.1 magnitude earthquake left a chess board of destruction across the country’s capital, where almost a hundred deaths have been confirmed so far.

British police have raided a home in south-west London linked to the arrest of the second suspect in a subway bombing on Friday that left 30 people injured. A 21-year-old man was taken into custody just before midnight on Saturday (local time). Investigators were on Sunday searching the home in Stanwell, about 25 kilometres south-west of central London, heading toward Heathrow Airport. It came after police earlier arrested an 18-year-old man in the city of Dover — the port linking England to France — and raided a property in Sunbury, which neighbours Stanwell.

British authorities have arrested a second man in connection with the bombing of a London Underground train on Friday, officials said Sunday. The 21-year-old man was arrested late Saturday in Hounslow, west London, by detectives from the London Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command. In Friday's incident, at Parsons Green station, an improvised device exploded as a train arrived during the morning rush hour, injuring 30 passengers.
