    Bobby McGill is the founder and publisher of Branding in Asia Magazine, a digital publication that features news, creative work, profiles and insights into the world of advertising, marketing and branding across Asia.

    Bobby got his start in journalism as business reporter in 1996, covering tech news for the San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner during the dot.com boom.

    In 2002, he relocated to Asia, and has been living and working there ever since.

    After settling down in the South Korean port city of Busan in 2009, Bobby founded Haps Magazine, Busan's first independently-produced English-language lifestyle magazine.

    Besides his work as a writer and publisher, Bobby is currently an Associate Professor of Branding and Marketing in the Department of International Studies at Dongseo University in Busan.

    In 2014, he was named one of the "100 Expats Who Made a Difference" in South Korea by Groove Magazine, which is published out of Seoul, the capital city.

    Bobby has been featured widely in the Korean media as well as on CNN. He is also a regular contributor to Adobe's CMO.com through his articles on marketing and branding trends in the Asia Pacific region.

    Florian Faes is a native of Zurich, Switzerland. He is the Co-Founder and Managing Director at Slator, which is a digital news platform that makes business sense of the language services and technology market.

    Before launching Slator, Florian spent over eight years working at CLS Communication – a Swiss-based language services provider, which was acquired by Lionbridge in 2015.

    Florian began his career at CLS as a financial translator working in Singapore. He eventually became General Manager of CLS's Hong Kong office, and finally took on the role of CEO for Asia-Pacific, based in Shanghai, China.

    With his new online startup, Slator.com, my guest has gone from working inside the language services industry to building a business based on writing about that industry. Headquartered in Zurich, he works with team members in Singapore and in Manila, the Philippines.

    When he's not busy running his burgeoning media empire, he enjoys running through cities and over mountains.

    Vijayalaxmi Hegde is a content expert based in Karnataka, which is a state in the south-western region of India.

    A journalist by training, she has taken on different roles over the past 13 years, from editor, to freelance writer, to researcher.

    For the last six years, she has been working in the translation and localization industry – initially at Common Sense Advisory, a market research firm, and then at Smartling, a technology provider.

    Currently, Vijayalaxmi is a Content Marketing Manager at Moravia, one of the world's top 10 language service providers. She enjoys writing about various aspects of translation, and how it aids and influences global marketing.

    I first discovered her through her many and consistently excellent contributions to the Moravia Blog.

    Her other passions include plain language, new journalism, organic farming, and alternative education.

    As a localization and globalization expert with two decades of experience, Anna is currently the Head of Globalization Strategy and Information Engineering at NetApp, a multinational storage and data management company headquartered in Silicon Valley.

    Born in Catalonia, an autonomous region of Spain, Anna grew up immersed in multiple cultures and languages. She holds Linguistics degrees from the University of Barcelona and from Humboldt University in Berlin.

    Anna has a passion for globalization innovation, information readiness, and for mentoring new talent. She is a frequent speaker at universities around the world, and her articles have been featured in publications such as Forbes and Fortune magazine, as well as on many industry websites.

    In 2009, Anna co-founded Women in Localization, a worldwide association, whose goal is to help drive the localization industry and to support the advancement of women within it.

    She is also the co-founder of Imagine Educating Everyone, a not-for-profit program that helps build the infrastructure for sustainable communities in rural Kenya.

    Patrick Pierra is a trained journalist, a serial entrepreneur, and a content marketing expert based in Quebec – the French-speaking province of Canada. Originally from France, he moved to North America in 1988 to pursue a career in journalism.

    After five years at Infopresse, a news source for the French-Canadian marketing and media industry, Patrick founded his own media company, Branchez-vous!, in 1995.

    Branchez-vous.com was the first French-language media website in Canada. Over the next 15 years, it became the flagship of Canada's largest independent French-language web-media and advertising network. It was eventually acquired by Canadian broadcasting giant Rogers Media in 2010.

    In 2011, Patrick launched Invention Media, a consulting firm that offers media strategy services, and also invests directly in digital media projects. As CEO of Invention Media, his entrepreneurial ventures have included TabTimes, a news organization covering tablets as productivity and business tools, and The Tabby Awards, a global awards program for the best tablet-friendly apps.

    In 2014, he co-founded Esprit de Marque, a content strategy and creation studio that helps organizations devise and implement effective content marketing programs. In June 2016, Esprit de Marque merged with 37e Avenue, another Montreal-based content marketing agency, where Patrick is now a Partner and the VP of Business & Strategy.

    In addition, Anne-Marie is a conference organizer for the Nordic Translation Industry Forum (NTIF). She is also the Marketing Director for LocWorld, a conference for global business know-how that takes place three times a year.

    In 2015, Simon founded his own marketing consultancy, Kepios. In addition, he is the Regional Managing Partner in Asia for We Are Social, a global marketing agency. He is also Head of APAC for Insider Consulting at Contagious Communications, another international marketing agency.

    Simon was recently recognized as one of Asia's Most Influential Digital Marketers by CMO Asia Magazine, and he was featured in Campaign Asia's "40 Under 40" honours list in 2014.

    Outside of work, Simon is a music producer and a DJ, and he's halfway through recording his first album. He also organizes various social events, including tasting nights for the Singapore Whisky Society, as well as the hugely popular #SataySocial street-food event.

    Her international career has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, and she has been the recipient of several prestigious business awards, including an International Stevie Award for "Best Sales Executive" and a Women in Business award for "Best Canadian Executive". Most recently, she was named to the 2016 'Diversity 50' listing by the Canadian Board Diversity Council.

    Jerry Clode is a market research expert who specializes in Chinese consumer culture. He is the Head of Digital and Social Insight at Resonance China, a marketing agency based in Shanghai.

    He is also the Director of a new division there called SMART, which a bespoke strategy, research and naming service.

    Jerry first went to China in 1994 for his university studies. He then pursued an academic career in Melbourne for several years, teaching Chinese cinema and language.

    In 2004, he launched into a marketing career, which has taken him to Shanghai, Singapore, London and most recently Sao Paolo (Brazil), before moving back to China.

    With his new SMART service at Resonance China, Jerry's goal is to create world-class research solutions for his clients, with an emphasis on understanding the Chinese consumer's point-of-view.
