When his adult life crumbled around him, he finally reached out for professional help, both emotionally and spiritually. Over the next ten years, this inner work lead John to places he—and his counselor—would never have expected. As John moved closer to God in the process, the storm hit harder than ever, taking him to his knees.
Discover how John got up and, by the grace of God, walked through the storm of his life and strengthened his faith through completely surrendering to his Heavenly Father. As John learned and shares in this book, trusting God and becoming vulnerable are the only way to true freedom.

  • Episode 72: Struggling With Not Enoughness, Disconnectedness And Shame: Dr. Bill Senyard
Dr. Bill Senyard Is my guest this week who has this very intriguing app for healing from abuse and trauma! He is an experienced pastor, discipler, church revitalization specialist, lecturer and conference speaker with 25 years as a local church pastor. He is the author of twelve books and two on-line experiential paths to help people who struggle with identity, relationships,  shame, addiction, loneliness and forgiveness.
    About Bill:
We Christians have a huge problem. The pandemic has only exacerbated previously unrecognized and undealt with existing issues related to loneliness, not-enoughness, disconnectedness and shame. What churches, pastors, and counselors were doing before the pandemic seems to be even less effective—a little or a lot. It’s a question of practical relevance to real people living in this new often frightening “real” world. People are desperate for change.Dr. Bill Senyard has researched the recent science and theology related to shame, loneliness and unforgiveness and has created on-line experiential paths where regular Christians can find healing and move forward--a little or a lot. Does it work? Yep, we can prove it. If your audience struggles with identity and relational issues--and who doesn't?-- they will definitely be interested in what Dr. Bill has to say.
https://gospel-app.com/paths/the-dance/The Dance is a unique on-line evidence-based experiential journey designed to help Christians who struggle with not-enoughness and disconnectedness (i.e., shame and loneliness). It is virtual, seven teaching stations, under two hours, fully money-back guaranteed. Launched in Dec 2020. Very gratifying results. How can Christians begin to shut up that nasty inner critical voice a little or a lot so that they can get on with their lives and even dance a little.
Your discount coupon for the Forgiving Path (www.forgivingpath.com) and/or The Dance (www.the-dance.org). Regular price for either is $29. This coupon "WOUNDS" (used at registration) is good for $10 off. The coupon is good for 40 days.

  • Episode 71: Is Purity The Same Thing As Virginity? Lydia Vreeman
Lydia Vreeman is my guest this week from the Holy Ship Podcast! She shares her personal story of being sexually assaulted by someone she trusted in the church. We talk about the difference between purity and virginity, and hope for those of us that have already done things we regret. We had such a fun time talking about dating, boundaries and even dinner parties! Come and hang out with us girls for some honest and real conversation about sex.
Lydia is originally from Southwest Michigan but has lived in NYC for the past 4 1/2 years. She is a co-host and creator of the Holy Ship Podcast where she discusses the intersection of women, Christianity, and sexuality in an open and shame-free way. She enjoys public speaking, videography, traveling, and throwing dinner parties.
    About Lydia:
I am passionate about speaking on all things Christianity, sexuality, purity culture, my experience with PTSD and SA, and how theology and faith affect our everyday lives.I grew up Christian and left my faith for several years before a series of events happened bringing me back to my faith. This has created a passion in me to help women on their faith journey and discuss difficult topics.
I have a degree in politics, philosophy, and economics with a minor in theology and economics. If you can't tell, I love theology and economics haha. I think both play vital roles in our society and need to be talked about more.
When I am not public speaking or on a podcast, I love volunteering in nyc, leading in several ministries at church, and helping other people develop their passion projects.
I always speak from personal experience, love sharing funny stories about myself relating to these topics, sharing the research I've done, and having fruitful conversations.

We are continuing in my story this week, wrapping up the ministry in New Jersey as youth leaders. It begins describing the manipulative soulwinning practices in the church. What it was like to knock on doors in the most dangerous city in New Jersey? Find out how a church hired a family to replace us as youth leaders without even telling us. Hear about the scary time we thought the KKK were going to fire bomb our house. I also share how I survived the attempted suicide of my husband. The episode ends with new music I recorded, called "Your God Will Come".

  • Episode 69: My Story: Coercion, Financial And Spiritual Abuse: Part 12
We are continuing my abuse story this week on the podcast. Last time we left off during our time church planting in New Jersey as youth pastors. We're talking more about spiritual abuse and then adding financial abuse to the mix. Find out when I got "caught" trying to sing a Contemporary Christian song for a missions conference. What in the world is "Give It All Sunday"? You'll find out what it was like glutting out a hardware store and turning it into a church. Hear about how Grandma surprised me and got saved one afternoon. We end with some new music I recorded: a cover of "A Million Dreams". It would be an honor to have you join me.

  • Episode 65: Kicked Out Of The Church After Being Abused: Bridget Seavey
Why would a church kick a young girl out of the church she loves when she reports she has been abused by someone in the church? This is actually quite common in churches, and it happened more than once to our guest Bridget Seavey. She was raised in the Fundamental Baptist Church and was assaulted as a young girl by a church leader. No one helped her when she reported the abuse. She married her now ex husband in the church who started abusing her during their honeymoon. Even after the black and blue marks showing all over her body, no one helped her. When she became pregnant with her first child, she hoped that things would change. This is Part One of Bridget's incredible story. Don't miss it!
