In today's 'WordPress & Around' news segment, we bring you all the updates around WordPress and its closely related technologies.
First up, WooCommerce has been creating quite a buzz lately with the launch of Woo Express- a new managed hosting product. Woo Express is an all-in-one solution catering to e-commerce businesses that use WordPress.com's infrastructure. The product was soft-launched in March but initially had limited access. It has now been officially released to the public.
Moving on, Gutenberg- the popular WordPress editor recently released version 15.6. The new update introduces an experimental Detail block, new spacing presets for the Spacer block, style variations accessible in browse mode, and other enhancements. Also, an update was given on the SQLite project that has been completely rewritten to use an SQL Lexer, making it stable and able to handle all WordPress queries adequately.
In other news, contributor days could become more effective with a proposal to focus on the time before the event itself. Additionally, Google continues to strengthen its progress in the AI race by combining its two world-class AI teams- DeepMind and Google Brain.
Now, moving to Web Security and Vulnerabilities, attackers are exploiting the abandoned Eval PHP WordPress plugin to create backdoors on compromised websites. In another update, an unauthenticated SQL injection was found and patched in Quiz And Survey Master, while Cross-Site Scripting vulnerabilities were patched in Weaver products.
Furthermore, on Community news, Gravity Forms have released Conversational Forms add-on beta 3, and Beaver Builder version 2.7 has been launched, with many new additions to the responsive editing interface. Elementor 3.13 Beta was also released, introducing Elementor AI, a new layout option in containers, and several other updates.
In other exciting news, CertifyWP has launched the WordPress Management and Design Credential costing $150 for the exam and includes three courses towards mastering frontend development. Amazon has also launched 'Amazon Code Whisperer,' an AI Code Generator and Github co-pilot alternative that is entirely free.
