Originally a family residence, the renovations of the Captain Elijah Cobb House to become the Brewster Historical society was a long and arduous process but done to perfection. There were romantic encounters and ghosts that visit occasionally. A 50 room hotel with all the amenities was shipped from Scituate, Massachusetts to Dennis and reassembled, the doors and windows arrived first.

The hotel also had, among the amenities a few wash-a-shore ghosts from Scituate who harassed the kitchen staff endlessly.
