This memory popped up on my phone this morning, it is me and my now 12-year old son, and now 15-year old daughter, the only two that wanted to go with me to Game 4 of the NBA Finals last year. Pacers were on the verge of going up 3-1, however, some bad officiating, calls and non-calls went against them, the Thunder rallied to tie the series at 2-2, the Pacers lost in Game 7, with Haliburton getting injured, and they have had an injury plagued year this year (even on top of the Haliburton injury). In fact, this year, they now have the worst record in the NBA.
Lesson from this this is to enjoy the moment, things can change quickly, just like the markets, and you have to make lemonade of lemons sometimes (the bad record this year could lead to a top-4 pick in a loaded draft class).
As an aside, I took a picture of the Biglari building going in, this is the Buffett protege guy, who bought Steak and Shake (they are cooking everything in beef tallow now like McDonalds $MCD used to do), he owns a stake in Cracker Barrel $CBRL , and has some insurance operations too. Always an interesting stock to look at, $BH , Biglari Holdings.
Biglari’s stock price has had an impressive comeback here, and I was surprised how well McDonald’s stock has done the last five years as well.
