After medical training at the University of Southern California and the Los Angeles County General Hospital, Dr. Kirschner entered medical practice in the San Fernando Valley as a family physician. In 1961 there were very few doctors with his public health experience. This soon led to volunteering in various health related programs, such as the Regional Medical Disaster Program, the Red Cross Disaster and Blood program, the Home Health Association, Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice, several committees on biomedical issues, adviser to the California Health Law Revision Committee, Single Payer Health Care for All, Physicians for a National Health Plan, California Physicians Alliance and other health-related activities. He has also written numerous articles, letters and Op Ed pieces and appeared on radio, television and lectured on health care issues at many venues. Recently retired from medical practice, he continues to volunteer for many health oriented community programs. This book is a collection of essays by Dr. Kirschner, regarding some of the many unresolved health care, pharmaceutical and insurance issues that his patients have shared with him during his forty-seven years of family medical practice. In this book, "All Medicines are Poison!," Melvin H. Kirschner, MPH, MD, sets out to remove the fog of confusion that clouds the landscape patients are required to navigate in their search for health care today. This book describes the risks and benefits associated with the use of medicines, and explores the validity of other treatment modalities referred to as "Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). He discusses the numerous failings and backroom dealings in the pharmaceutical and insurance industries, and highlights possible solutions to many of these current concerns. John Brandenburg was born in Rochester Minnesota and grew up in Medford Oregon. He obtained his bachelor's degree in physics at Southern Oregon University, and his MS in Applied Science at University of California at Davis, and also hie PhD in plasma Physics at UC Davis extension at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories studying controlled fusion using magnetic fields to confine plasma. John .E. Brandenburg is a Senior Propulsion Scientist at Orbital Technologies Inc. after being a researcher at Florida Space Institute having come there from The Aerospace Corporation, where one of his duties was as principle investigator of the MET (Microwave Electro-Thermal) propulsion project. He also performed an architecture study for a Human Mars Mission using solar electric propulsion. He also performed research on Fusion Propulsion and Kaluza-Klein theory of Field Unification for purposes of space propulsion. Before coming to Aerospace corporation Dr. Brandenburg was a researcher at Research Support Instruments (RSI) where he specialized in making controlled plasmas for uses ranging from Fusion Energy research to the MET thruster. He also worked as an independent consultant on Space Missile Defense, Directed Energy Weapons, and space rocket plume phenomenology, and also at Mission Research Corporation and Sandia National Laboratories on plasmas for controlled fusion and similar topics. He has written 4 books : Dead Mars Dying Earth on Global Warming and Energy problems with Monica Rix Paxton, which won the 2000 silver Ben Franlikn award for best environmental or science book. He received the New England Paranormal Research of the Year in 2012 from CeCe Productions. He is a Registered and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. He has been a member of the American Board of Hypnotherapy, American Psychological Association, New Hampshire Psychological Association. Dr. Woodard is a direct great grandchild of Chief Madockawando of the Abenaki Nation. Dr. Woodard is a licensed psychologist and certified hypnotherapist.
