The Xennial Aviator

Hey everyone! This is the first of a series of "sub-episodes" for my F3 Group in the Jacksonville area known as Asgard!   Each week I will be going through the Q-source and talking about a specific subject as well as reflecting on the questions posed.  Hoping to have some fellow Pax join me for future recordings! ATIS Is calling clear and a million  for Episode 11  SEND IT!

On this episode Jim Dells from "The Internet Explorer's" Podcast joins me in the flight deck.  Our in flight beverage this time consisted of a nice cup of Black Rifle Coffee (Which I should probably start posting a pic of)

Initially on takeoff, I expected me and Jim to jump right into his Podcast and share what drove him to his passion. However, as we reached cruise altitude I realized our conversation was going to get alot deeper....  It turns out we share alot commonalties in our backgrounds and upbringing, and its these things that forged us into the men we are.  Jim talks alot about his initial time as an enlisted sailor, much like me, separating and learning what the  "REAL" college experience is all about and finally making the move to come back to the military as an Officer and Leader and the trials and tribulations we've faced along the way.

In our initial descent, we do finally delve into Jim's podcast and talk about its unique nature of introducing people to the paranormal and other oddities that might not always breach the mainstream. His lighthearted approach makes pretty much any topic inviting! From Underwater civilizations to making a car fly with duct tape!

As we come in for our approach to landing we drop the gear to discuss the "why" to Jim's podcast and what he hopes to get out of it..

Welcome back everyone for episode 11!! I made a new internet friend!   This week I am joined by Jim Dells of "The Internet Explorer's Podcast".  Initially I planned on spending quite some time discussing his show (which we do). But aside from sharing common interests in podcasting, Jim is also a fellow Navy Officer as well! So we have a very awesome discussion about our similar backgrounds, leadership and our love of service.  And then we jump face first into the weirdness of the paranormal and conspiracy theories in the unique and light hearted way that only Jim could deliver!   One of my favorite episodes i've recorded to date!!

Straight out the gate and back at it again!  Number 1 for takeoff into SEASON 2!!!

On this episode I invite Bill Barlow into the flight deck.  Our in flight beverage this time consisted of a nice cup of Black Rifle Coffee.

Bill is a very accomplished author and businessman who has made a name for himself in the Direct Response television industry, or as we all know it "infomercials"

From the Bible on Tape to Juicers to double bladed circular saws if you have seen it on TV, chances are Bill had a hand in it.

As we reach cruise altitude, Bill entertains us with his stories of the industry, including how he went to war with "big mattress" and had a rival idea bought out by a unknown board game called Trivial Pursuit.   Additionally we learn about the target audience for direct response television as well as who Dorothy is...

As we come in for our approach to landing we drop the gear to discuss another passion of Bills, wine.   This man is quite the wine connoisseur and he has an amazing story on how he got that way!

Married couples do a multitude of things to work on solidifying their marriages... some go to marriage counseling, others attend weekly prayer services. But over the last 5 years me and my wife have become regulars doing pop culture trivia every Wednesday night, and this has become our couples therapy.

Join me this week as I interview Jonathan Leffingwell, IT professional during the day, and trivia master and entertainer for Trivia Nation at night!   Each week Jonathan acts as a "couples councilor" for us as well as various other teams!

We delve into Jonathans background, discuss what sparked his interest in trivia and what led him to becoming a trivia nation host.  With it we discuss the important traits Trivia Hosts should have as well as memorable, and sometimes inappropriate moments hosting and playing trivia!

In addition to this we also discuss the pros and cons of being a remote worker and how, while it sounds ideal, it may not be for everyone!

Buckle up everyone and lets get ready to play!

In the second half of our interview with Chief Flight Engineer Erik Willison, we talk about his career path in becoming a flight engineer and where it has taken him.

We then discuss leadership aspects and experiences that serve as valuable learning tools for our subordinates...as well as ourselves!

And finally we end the show with a small tour of my office/game room!
