The Year I Choose Myself
Why now? Why, after all these years, am I finally deciding to choose myself?
In the very first episode of The Year I Choose Myself, I explore the question that started this journey: What happens when you realize the life you've been living is no longer the life you want for yourself?
This episode is about reaching a turning point. Not necessarily because something dramatic happened overnight, but because the accumulation of experiences, relationships, disappointments, and personal revelations finally made it impossible to keep living the same way.
I'm talking about divorce, sobriety, solitude, uncomfortable transitions, and the difficult realization that sometimes we spend so much time showing up for everyone and everything else that we forget to show up for ourselves.
Choosing myself doesn't mean I have everything figured out. It doesn't mean I'm no longer grieving, questioning my decisions, or afraid of what comes next. It means I've decided that uncertainty is no longer a good enough reason to remain somewhere I no longer belong.
Sometimes the hardest part of change is that it doesn't feel like growth while you're experiencing it. It feels like loss. Like loneliness. Like everything familiar is disappearing. You can't see the forest for the trees, and you're left wondering whether you're making the right decision.
But what if the discomfort is part of the transformation? What if the life that's falling apart is actually making room for the life you've been waiting to live?
In this opening episode, I'm not offering a perfect blueprint for healing. I'm inviting you into my own journey of learning to be alone without feeling lonely, to embrace change without needing to control it, and to understand that choosing yourself isn't always selfish—sometimes it's necessary.
This is the beginning of a year of intentional living, uncomfortable growth, and radical self-honesty.
I don't know exactly what this year will bring. But I know one thing: I'm no longer willing to abandon myself to preserve the life I've outgrown.
Welcome to The Year I Choose Myself.
This time, I'm choosing me.

Sometimes life has to fall apart before it can come together.
The Year I Choose Myself is a podcast about the uncomfortable,…
Through honest conversations about sobriety, solitude, self-discovery, and major life transitions, this podcast explores what happens when the life you've known begins to change—and you decide to choose yourself through it all.
It's about the moments when everything feels like it's falling apart, even when life is actually making room for something better. It's about learning to sit with discomfort, finding peace in solitude, releasing what no longer serves you, and trusting a journey you cannot fully see.
Because sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees. You're so deep in the pain, uncertainty, and unfamiliarity of change that you can't recognize the growth happening right in front of you.
This isn't a podcast about having it all figured out. It's about navigating the in-between. The grief and the freedom. The loneliness and the liberation. The endings that quietly become beginnings.
The Year I Choose Myself is about discovering that what feels like the worst chapter of your life might actually be the beginning of your best one.
And for once, choosing yourself without apology.
