In tonight’s episode of The Your Level Fitness Experience, we continue the conversation around environment, identity, and building a forever active lifestyle by making healthier habits easier to follow and old habits harder to fall back into.
This episode is all about creating small moments of interruption between automatic behaviors and intentional choices, because sometimes the difference between staying stuck and building momentum is simply pausing long enough to recognize the decision you’re making.
We’re talking about:
• How to create “friction” for habits you’re trying to move away from
• Why making healthy habits easier is often more effective than relying on motivation
• Using environmental triggers to support workouts, nutrition, hydration, and routines
• Breaking automatic patterns and building new behavioral pathways
• Why small changes can completely shift long-term consistency
• Structuring your environment around the identity you’re building
• Reframing progress instead of viewing everything as success or failure
• Finding victories inside imperfect moments
• The problem with the all-or-nothing mindset in fitness and weight loss
• The “Rhythms of Your Level Fitness” approach to sustainable focus, recovery, and momentum throughout the year
I also share real-world examples from my own routines, eating habits, hydration habits, and decision-making process to show how consistency is often built through awareness, structure, and flexibility rather than perfection.
This episode is a reminder that building a forever active lifestyle is not about being “on” all the time. It’s about creating systems, rhythms, and environments that support the person you’re becoming over the long term.
In tonight’s episode of The YLF Experience Podcast, we continue the conversation around environment and habits by focusing on what I’m calling the pause before the pattern.
Before we start overhauling routines or trying to stack a bunch of new habits onto our lives, we need to spend time developing the ability to pause in the moment before automatic behaviors take over. That pause is where awareness, ownership, and long-term change begin.
I share another real-world example around food decisions, routines, and the difference between reacting automatically versus intentionally choosing what you want to do. This episode is not about perfection, restriction, or “earning” food. It is about learning how to step back, assess what you want, and own the decisions you make without spiraling emotionally afterward.
We also talk about:
• Why disrupting one meal instead of your entire day matters
• The danger of “banking calories” to reward yourself with food
• How habits become automatic over time
• Why even one intentional pause can begin rewiring your patterns
• How ownership creates empowerment
• Why most of your day is made up of neutral habits and routines
• Learning to feel more in control instead of emotionally reactive
The goal this week is not perfection. It is awareness. If you can begin creating even small pauses before old patterns take over, you start proving to yourself that you are capable of redirecting your choices and building new routines over time.
In tonight’s episode of The YLF Experience Podcast, I’m kicking off the final week of our identity series by looking at environment, not just the physical space around you, but the conversations, people, routines, cues, stress levels, and patterns that reinforce who you believe you are becoming.
This episode is about observing before changing. Before we try to overhaul habits, routines, food choices, workouts, or schedules, we need to look at what our current environment is reinforcing. Is it helping the identity we’ve chosen? Is it hurting it? Or is it simply neutral? Most of life is neutral, but the patterns that drain us, overwhelm us, or pull us out of alignment are worth noticing.
I also share a real example from the weekend, where being tired and thrown off after travel made ordering food feel like the easiest choice. Instead of reacting automatically, I took a step back, assessed what I actually wanted, and made a different decision that still worked for my life. That pause is the key. This is not about being perfect. It is about learning to take ownership of your decisions without beating yourself up afterward.
This week, the focus is simple. Observe your environment, notice your triggers, and pay attention to the moments where you can pause, assess, and redirect. That is how you start reinforcing the identity you have already chosen.
This week on The YLF Experience Podcast, we wrapped up one of the most important conversations we’ve had in a while around identity, taking action, self-awareness, and learning how to actually navigate your life instead of constantly forcing yourself forward.
We talk about:
• Choosing the identity you want to reinforce
• Why action alone is not enough without awareness
• The importance of evaluating your direction while you’re moving forward
• Minimum daily actions and weekly goals
• Why observation and adjustment matter more than perfection
• Escaping hustle culture and all-or-nothing thinking
• Learning to trust yourself through practice and follow-through
• Why nuance and context matter more than rigid systems
• Building a forever active lifestyle that actually fits your real life
This episode is a reminder that growth is not just about constantly pushing harder. It is about learning how to step back, observe, adjust, and continue building a life that aligns with who you want to become.
We also begin setting the stage for next week’s conversation around environment design, habit stacking, and making the process of growth easier and more sustainable through the way you structure your life.
In this episode of The YLF Experience Podcast, we continue the conversation around identity change, confidence, and sustainable progress by breaking down one of the core pieces of the Your Level Fitness Framework, minimum daily actions tied to weekly goals.
This episode focuses on how to build trust with yourself by setting goals underneath your current capabilities so that you consistently follow through and exceed them. Instead of constantly chasing stretch goals or perfection, we talk about creating momentum through realistic daily actions that fit your real life and help reinforce the identity of someone who follows through.
I also share why “at least” goals can completely shift your mindset around consistency, how building cushion into your routines helps you stay on track during difficult weeks, and why learning to adapt instead of forcing yourself forward is one of the most important skills you can develop long term.
We also get into the difference between attaching your identity to specific actions versus trusting yourself to navigate situations as they come up. Using my recent back setback and return to the gym as an example, I explain how adjusting workouts, stepping back when needed, and making strategic changes is not failure, it is part of sustainable progress.
This episode is ultimately about learning how to trust yourself, build confidence through action, and create a calm, deliberate approach to growth instead of constantly living in extremes.
In this episode of The YLF Experience Podcast, we continue the conversation on taking action and what it actually looks like to follow through on the identity you’re choosing to build.
Taking the first step is important, but what happens next is where most people get stuck. You take a step, you face resistance, things don’t go according to plan, and now you’re left trying to figure out whether to keep going, pivot, or stop altogether. This is where the real work begins.
We break down the process of continuing to take action while also learning how to assess your direction in real time. This is not about blindly pushing forward or chasing perfection. It’s about building awareness, making adjustments, and trusting yourself to figure things out as you go.
You’ll hear how to navigate obstacles without falling back into the start, stop, restart cycle, why your original plan is likely going to change, and how to determine whether you’re facing normal resistance or if it’s time to shift direction entirely.
This episode also reinforces the importance of self-trust, letting go of the need for perfect outcomes, and understanding that mistakes and missteps are part of the process, not signs that you’ve failed.
At the end of the day, this is about building momentum through action, staying connected to yourself, and learning how to move forward with a calm headspace and a deliberate pace, even when things feel uncertain.
This week, we’re diving into one of the most important concepts in the entire Your Level Fitness approach, reinforcing the identity you choose for yourself through the actions you take.
A lot of what you hear in fitness, productivity, and self-development is that action is everything. And while that’s true, there’s a missing piece that keeps people stuck. If you’re only taking action and waiting for that to eventually make you feel confident or capable, you’re leaving that belief up to chance.
In this episode, I break down what it actually looks like to choose who you want to be first, and then use your thoughts, feelings, and actions to reinforce that identity on purpose. We talk about why small, consistent steps matter, how to navigate obstacles and real-life curveballs, and why operating from a calm headspace at a deliberate pace changes everything.
I also share how this connects to minimum daily actions within the YLF framework, how to move away from all-or-nothing thinking, and how to take ownership of your decisions without needing everything to be perfect.
This isn’t about finding the perfect plan. It’s about learning how to take action, assess, adjust, and keep moving forward in a way that actually lasts.
This episode bridges the gap between choosing your identity and taking action on it.
All week, we’ve focused on the mental side of identity change, getting clear on who you want to be, how you want to see yourself, and what it looks like to move through life from that place. Now we shift into action, but not in the way most people expect.
Instead of overwhelming yourself or trying to do everything at once, this episode sets the foundation for taking small, intentional steps that actually lead to follow-through. We talk about why action has to come from the right headspace, how to navigate the noise, doubt, and outside influence that show up when you start doing things differently, and why reinforcing your identity matters more than chasing a specific outcome.
This is also a reminder that the life you want isn’t built by following the crowd or chasing someone else’s version of success. It’s built by connecting with yourself, making intentional choices, and learning to appreciate who you are at every stage.
As you move into the next phase, the focus is simple. Choose your identity, reinforce it with your thoughts, and start taking small steps in a direction that aligns with who you’ve decided to be.
Because once you take that first step, you’ve already proven something important to yourself.
This episode continues our deep dive into identity, and more specifically, what it actually looks like to choose your identity on purpose.
Earlier in the week, we focused on observation. Just noticing. Taking stock of what you’ve collected over time, the habits, the thought patterns, the beliefs, the strengths, and the things that might not be serving you.
Now we’re shifting into something more intentional.
Choosing who you want to be.
And here’s where this gets different from how most people approach change.
Instead of taking action and hoping you eventually believe in yourself, this is about deciding first. Choosing your identity now, before you feel “ready,” and then allowing your actions, habits, thoughts, and behaviors to reinforce that choice over time.
We also talk about why focusing only on your flaws can keep you stuck, and how building on your existing strengths creates a completely different experience. There’s a version of “comfort” that comes from avoidance, but there’s also a version of comfort that feels like alignment, flow, and energy. Learning to recognize the difference is a big part of this process.
This episode also dives into:
Why imposter syndrome happens and how to break out of it
The role of ownership in creating lasting change
Why you can’t force yourself into change before you’re ready
How your past versions of yourself still show up and why you need to meet them with compassion, not resistance
Why identity work is ongoing, not something you “complete”
This is about rewriting your story, not by ignoring your past, but by integrating it.
Because it’s not a “new you.”
It’s you, choosing differently, on purpose.
In this episode of The YLF Experience, we continue the conversation on identity and begin to untangle the thoughts, labels, and stories we carry about ourselves.
Because whether you realize it or not, you are constantly reinforcing an identity.
The question is, is it one you chose on purpose?
We talk about how your current self-image is built through years of experiences, moments, and internal dialogue, many of which go all the way back to childhood. These moments are not the problem. The story you attach to them is what shapes how you see yourself today.
This episode focuses on awareness first.
Before you try to change anything, you need to observe:
We also dive into:
This is not about forcing change overnight.
This is about slowing down, becoming aware, and starting to understand yourself at a deeper level.
Because once you see it clearly, you can begin to choose differently.
And that is where everything starts to shift.
