Shruti Anand is an Indian beauty guru based out of India who started her channel demonstating how to do Henna tattoos. She was surprised as how many people outside of India were very interested in her work. She used that niche as a way to expand and grow her channel and she now has 130k subscribers and almost 24 million video views. Her channel consists of makeup, skincare and Henna tattoos. 

Andrea Marie is a technology and ETSY maven who started her YouTube channel because of her obsession with makeup. Her channel consists of a lot of DIY, fashion and beauty topics. We chat about her love of technology and how that has helped her build her channel. Please note that her correct channel is youtube.com/AndreaMarieYT which is different than what she stated in this video. Andrea's new channel was started November of last year and has 4,000 subscribers.

Sam Schuerman is a stay at home mom of two with three YouTube channels. She has become so successful with her channels that her husband has been able to quit his job and the both dedicate their time full time to her YouTube. Her beauty channel has 183k subsribers and 14 million video views. Her vlog channel, "The Schuerman Show" has 66k subscribers with 11 million views and her "Mommy" channel has 44k subscribers with 1 million views.

As we wrap up 2014 and head into 2015 I wanted to take a minute and reflect on the many things I learned from interviewing YouTubers for the Beauty and the Vlog podcast. I condensed my new knowledge into 5 lessons. The 5 lessons are:

1.) Being a YouTuber is a LOT of work

2.) None of the YouTubers I spoke with got into YouTube for the money.

3.) Everyone on YouTube deals with haters.

4.) Being on YouTube brings a lot of opportunities outside of YouTube. We are able to "circumvent the traditional pathways to success" on YouTube. 

5.) Be YOURSELF!

She decide to give up her corporate career when her YouTube channel started taking off and she received an opportunity to be a beauty correspondent for HSN (Hone Shopping Channel).
