The Zelda Cast

Wow. Wowowow. THAT, my friends, was a Nintendo Direct for the ages. Despite Nintendo arguably holding back yet again on Tears of the Kingdom, there was no doubt that the trailer we saw for the game was by far the meatiest one yet. Add in the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance NSO news, with The Minish Cap and Link's Awakening DX being playable RIGHT NOW with the Oracles not far behind it, and there was more Zelda news in this 40 minutes than there has been in seemingly years! Add in Metroid Prime Remastered, Pikmin 4, and more games, and this might have been the greatest Nintendo Direct ever!

If you missed Andy and Al's reactions and thoughts live, come relive them now, and make sure to hang with us this weekend as we break down all the trailers frame by frame!

Open world games have come a long way in the last few years, and with Tears of the Kingdom approaching, the Cast figured it was a good time to play some contemporary titles to see what the upcoming Zelda game might learn from those titles. Joined by Rod Lloyd for this episode, the gang discuss Elden Ring and Horizon Zero Dawn and lay out what they like about those games, what they dislike, and what they would like to see - or NOT see - applied from those games to Tears of the Kingdom!

Come hang out and weigh in on some of the hot takes thrown out about Soulsborne games, whether Horizon's story is one of the best ever, and if Andy should keep playing Elden Ring or not!

Happy New Year! We're ringing in 2023 by answering a whole slew of Zelda Daily Debates that our incredible writing team has put together! Included in the gambit are: how much influence will Skyward Sword have on Tears of the Kingdom? Why has Nintendo been so secretive with the promotion thus far? What are our biggest fears about the upcoming sequel to Breath of the Wild? Could another delay be on the table? Would Nintendo ever release a buggy Zelda game a la Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? What Zelda-like games held us over in 2022? And the million dollar question - how will Tears of the Kingdom distinguish itself from Breath of the Wild?

Come and get your year started the right way by hanging out with the Zelda Cast, and don't forget to weigh in with your own takes on our Daily Debates!

As 2022 comes to a close, the gang reflect on what ended up unfortunately being one of the worst years in the history of the Zelda series. But was it the worst? Andy started doing some research into things that happened year by year in the series and presented it to you this week to decide for yourself what were the best and worst years in the long history of the series. There is a lot of ground to cover, so we're ending the year with our longest episode ever! Come enjoy and tell us what you think our rankings!

All this, PLUS some Avatar and Hades talk! From everyone at the Zelda Cast, we're wishing you and yours a happy and safe New Years!

Welcome back to another week of everyone's favorite Zelda podcast! This week, we put YOU in control and asked you to give us some Zelda questions to answer, and boy, did you deliver! What would a Zelda VR game look like? Which game had the best promotion leading up to its release? Is there a chance we could see a new ultimate weapon replace the Mast Sword? Will there ever be another main line game with pixel art? Does Tears of the Kingdom need a gimmick to set itself apart from Breath of the Wild?

All this and so much more, plus a little Avatar talk! Happy holidays from The Zelda Cast!

Despite nabbing the Most Anticipated Game award, Tears of the Kingdom was a no-show at this years Game Awards, continuing the bizarre, frustrating, and perplexing pre-release cycle the sequel to Breath of the Wild has been on since its reveal, capping off what may go down as the worst year for The Legend of Zelda in the modern era. If you think that's dramatic, come listen to Andy and Al explain why they hold that opinion, and debate on whether Nintendo's arrogance is showing. On the plus side, the gang review the actual Game Awards show, which all things considered, was pretty good. We talk Earthblade, Hades, Death Stranding 2, the Super Mario Bros. Movie, Crime Boss, and so much more!

This episode might not be for the faint of heart, but it's still a fun time! PLUS, come and ask us a question for next weeks show and you could hear it answered!
