When music has a formulaic feel to is, us as music fans tend to shy away from it. That is because it feels repetitive, feels overdone, and has this sense that it has already been done before, and probably for the better too. Why else would that formula be seen as one that works?

But when artsists write music with no formula in mind, just purely based off of the inspiration that they are feeling at that time, that is when greatness comes. That is when something new is created, and the emergence of a new "formula" that others try to use emerges.
