Chord Progression Podcast: The Gateway to New Rock and Metal Music

It is a true joy when we are able to watch a musician and an artist grow over the course of the almost 8 years that we have been doing the Chord Progression Podcast. We get to see them gain more fans, make a larger impact in the world around them, and take a step back to see that they are truly living their dream. We have had many of those artists come through the podcast. And this one, exemplifies all of it.

From our first conversation at the end of 2021 with some new music in tow and trying to get more people into it, we have seen this band play larger shows, take risks, and grow all along the way. Metalcore is in a good spot with this band around. And now with a new album out that has more of a bite to it, along with some big life changes along the way, you have to root for this band.

Life is all about the choices that we make. Sometimes we make the safe choices because we want the security of knowing our choices are right. Two years ago, we brought on a band that was not only starting to gain popularity amongst metal fans, & getting endorsements from William Duvall from Alice in Chains, but were still in high school at the time. Do musicians sometimes wait too long before releasing new music? There are plenty of times where the answer is “yes.” It really all depends on the reason as to why they are taking so much time in between releases. Is it fear of what the public will say when new music is released? Is it a level of perfectionism that the artist strives for but can never fully achieve?

Or is it so that the songs have a chance to breathe and the edit process is not rushed? So that the musicians can let the songs speak to them and give them time to either show that the song is perfect just the way it is, or reveal the piece that is missing that makes a good song great, and a great song amazing? When it is this reason, then we see more established artists take more risks with their music, where the reward is much greater.

As we continue on in the 2020's it is no surprise that the threat of AI to music just keeps growing. We hear stories of Ai musicians ripping off real artists and the casual listener does not seem to care at all. We hear more stories too about how more realistic the AI music seems. It is a terrible things for the true creatives out there.

But there is something that these musicians have that the AI does not have. These real artists are humans, that have human senses and human connection, that could cause an imperfection in the writing process that could lead to something much more creative than originally thought possible. That is the one thing that AI will never be able to replicate, the human element.

Whenever we as humans start something new, there is alwasy a massive amount of exceitement that kicks off the beginning of that journey. We are exctied to dive in deep, energetic to create something new, and happy to be doing something we find fun. But as time goes on, and more of the business and responsibilities side comes into play, things start to change.

For many artists that are out there, once the business side becomes more stressful and pressing, then the creative side of music becomes less fun and more prcedural. When artists arent excited about their music, the art suffers. It is importance they find that sense of "new-found happiness" again. And well, we found one.
