Nature & Wildlife Photography with Lewis Kemper

In this episode of TheFIX, photographer, author, and workshop leader Lewis Kemper joins host Seán Duggan to talk about the joys and challenges of photographing Alaskan coastal brown bears, and a personal project based on a stretch of the American River in northern California that is just a short walk from his home. Along the way Lewis shares some Lightroom post-processing tips for "flipping the light" to transform original captures so they they are a more accurate reflection of the moment he experienced. For those interested in learning more from Lewis about nature and wildlife photography, he also shares details about his upcoming April workshop to photograph tigers in India, and another trip to visit the coastal grizzlies in Alaska in August 2016.

About Our Guest

Lewis Kemper is widely recognized as a nature and wildlife photographer, writer, and instructor, lecturing and teaching throughout the United States. He was the photographer for, Ancient Ancestors of the Southwest, published by Graphic Arts Center Publishing. Kemper’s monograph, Capturing the Light won the People’s Choice Awards in Fine Art in the 2009 Photography Book Now competition. His latest publication Photographing Yosemite Digital Field Guide was voted in the top 20 field guides. Lewis’ latest project My Stretch of the River: A Photographer’s Journal, features a years worth of photography and journal entries on the American River in Sacramento, CA .
