On this episode of theJOURNEY podcast I sat down at Forsyth Park with Davis Pennell, a film student at the Savannah College of Art Design.  We chatted about film, life, favorite movies, self-esteem, social media and how different generations can see eye-to-eye. Yes! It is a conversation between two complexly different generations, Gen X and Gen Z.

I recently sat down with Courtney Bautista, Head Boo-rista and Part-Owner of Haunted Grounds Coffee in Midway, GA.  We talked about her background in the coffee business, her interest and love in paranormal and paranormal investigating as a member of the Savannah Paranormal Society, and stories and experiences she has had in the paranormal realm.  Haunted Grounds Coffee in Midway, GA is a great place for coffee and to learn about the paranormal or just listen to the many stories they have to tell.  Their coffee is hauntingly good.

After my first visit to Ricciardi's in the beginning of the year I knew I would have to return.  This time I returned with some backup; my daughters.  We made it a Daddy/Daughter date and planned on trying some other stuff on the menu like the Tavern style pizza, a burger and appetizers.

Another successful trip and review; a great place for a family dinner, a date, or just to hang with friends and enjoy good conversation with great food!  Oh, and did I mention it is kid approved?  If you know, you know what I'm saying.

I visited Debellation Brewery Company in Richmond Hill, GA to try my first craft brews ever.  Yes, I know, EVER!  It was definitely a great choice for the brewery and an experience that left me looking for more.  Debellation Brewery is a great place to find new craft brews and a great location to just sit back with friends and meet new people.

Since they regularly host food trucks at Debellation Brewery I had to try out Keller Wood Fire Pizza while I was there.  They are veteran owned and in Richmond Hill, Ga also.  The pizza is literally wood fired in an oven at around 750 degrees.  The ingredients were quality and fresh and the crust was just right. I give them a 8.2 rating, but don't take it from me, try it yourself.

I visited Bronner's, The World's Largest Christmas Store in Frankenmuth, MI.  Dietrich Bronner, Product Development Manager and the grandson of founder Wally Bronner, gave me a behind the scenes look at Bronner's.  We talked history, designing new product line, collaboration between creative teams, fun facts about Bronner's, upcoming product line, and so much more!  Just a heads up, you need to tour the store 3 times to really get the full effect.  Enjoy!

I recently visited Sly's Sliders and Fries in Savannah, GA to check out their specialty sliders.  They have dogs, sliders, fries, and beer.  I tried the Boardwalk slider which is a traditional beef patty, but full of flavor and then the Great Salmon Caper because I needed to have some seafood.  They were both great sliders and I will be back for more.

Never thought a frozen pizza could stand up to a freshly made pizza in a pizzeria. David Portnoy of Barstool Sports  has done it and done it well. I reviewed the stone fire supreme pizza that can be found in many grocers, I found it in Kroger with a little Natural Light.

Perfect combo for a late night treat or someone on a budget. Now just waiting for David Portnoy to come to Savannah, GA to do some pizza reviews and hit up some well known Savannah favorites. Enjoy!

Straight outta South Central LA (Louisiana that is) to Western Michigan, Couyons Cajun Kitchen creates some awesome Southern dishes like Gumbo, Jambalaya, Cajun Fries, Mardi Gras Fries (Couyons own take on fries) and some of the best catfish I’ve had.

Shane West and I talk about his journey from the oil fields of Texas and Louisiana to the food business; he knows what he is doing.  If you’re ever in Michigan and never had Cajun food, this is a MUST!  It might even inspire you to try making your own Cajun dish.  Enjoy!...or as the Cajuns might say, “laissez les bon temps rouler”

I tried 3 different hot dogs from Ronnie’s Restaurant in Savannah, GA.  They have several great items on the menu; Burgers, Chicken Fingers, Salads, Breakfast, and more!  However, I wanted to see how the hot dogs would compare.  

Ronnie's is a local favorite but also a hidden gem for some.  Check it out if you are in Savannah and never tried or visiting.  It has a 1950-60’s style setting.  I am sure you will love it; check out the review.
