Welcome to season TWO of Then We Cross America… the podcast!  Episodes air every Tuesday throughout the fall of 2019!

In August of 2019 we spent a week and a half in three of the nations oldest National Parks exploring alpine meadows, the largest trees and the deepest canyons and we brought you along for the ride!  Join us on this ten part series as we explore three of California's most majestic National Parks; Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia.  

In this first episode we share with you how we got to here in the first place.  How we planned our trip, what packing up looked like for us on this very busy day one of vacation and how avoiding traffic led to a little historical discovery.

Today we are home!  After a quick stop at Moaning Caverns Adventure Park we booked it across the Sacramento valley and back to home in the San Francisco Bay area.

Today we fully embraced the sprit of the California foothills. We spent the morning in the Living History Town of Columbia enjoying immersing ourselves in what life was like in the mining towns of the 1800's and then later in the afternoon we headed on over to the Calaveras County Fair to see the famous Jumping Frogs.

Today we had a slow start before taking a rainy drive further down Highway 49.  We stopped on the way at Jackson Rancheria Casino for lunch before entering Calaveras County for the first time on this trip.

Today we dodged hundreds of school children on field trips to take in the sights of Coloma Gold Discovery State Historic Park and enjoyed the strangest sandwiches of all time in Placerville California.

Today we left Nevada City, made a fun pit stop at Empire Mine State Historic Park before heading south on Highway 49 to the epicenter of the Gold Rush.  Coloma!

Today we have finally made it to Highway 49! There were some literal and figurative bumps along the way and one very minor explosion but we are now settled in at the most amazing bond docking spot ready to tell you about our time at Donner State Historic Park and about the rest of our crazy day.
