This episode argues that Matthew’s apocalyptic judgment scene draws on Second Temple Jewish traditions preserved in 1 Enoch—especially the Parables of Enoch and the Azazel / Watchers tradition—to shape its portrayal of the Son of Man, fallen angels, and eschatological punishment.
