  • Hawk The Slayer (1980)

This time on Time Bandits, we're back in 1980 for a swords-and-sorcery epic of British origin. It's the 1980 cult-classic Hawk The Slayer, starring Jack Palance, John Terry and more. It's about revenge, it's about spinny neon circle things, it's about little creatures we don't get to see enough of, and it's about 90 minutes of your time. How do we feel about it? Well you'll have to listen in to find out.

And before you go, check out our latest mixtape of 1980s tunes linked right here! https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2fzMER6b47TwBB0rW4tvwg?si=cFAx4GJVR7Syy-ZF4PpKMQ

  • Schizoid (1980)

On this episode of Time Bandits, we go back in time to watch the Cannon Films slasher Schizoid - will it be a melodramatic, soapy slasher with giallo influences worth digging up, or did we travel back in time for no reason. Before we dive into that movie, we discuss what we've been absorbing here in 2020, including: The Trial of Mike Diana, Middleditch & Schwartz, and Bedtime.com? You'll have to listen to hear about that part.

Don't forget we have a brand-new mixtape of music from 1980, including songs from: Polyrock, Kate Bush, The Buggles and more.

  • The Pumaman (1980)

This week on the podcast, look up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it... The Pumaman (1980)? Yes! And he's having a really hard go of things, from the looks of it. We talk about the 1980 superhero movie from Italy, most known from MST3K and for its ridiculous flying effects.

We talk about the movie, plus what we have been watching in 2020 (Brutalmoose, Flight of the Navigator and Angel Has Fallen) before we create another great mixtape of music from 1980 for you. Don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to be notified when we watch movies together!

  • The Apple (1980)

Then, the three of us contribute songs for a brand-new playlist of music from 1980: Greg picked a Robert Palmer track, Casey squeezed a Squeeze song, and Dan went digging to find an obscure international act.

  • Alligator (1980)

On the latest episode of Time Bandits, we go back in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Alligator (1980). In a long line of Jaws also-rans and sequels, Alligator stands proud with its John Sayles script, wonderfully humorous characters and cast, and reluctance to let many minutes go by without an attack or two.

Before we go back in time, as always, we each detail one thing we are watching or listening to in 2020:

    • Dan: Xerf Xpec's amazing YouTube channel of vintage Japanese music
    • Casey: Patti Harrison's hilarious "Patti Reviews Exotic Animals"
    • Greg: RuPaul's Drag Race (season 12)
    • All of this, plus another playlist of music from 1980 for you to listen to featuring: New Musik, Billy Joel, Peter Gabriel and more.

    • The Blue Lagoon (1980)

On the latest episode of the podcast, we go back in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of, uh, The Blue Lagoon! How does this very notorious - though suspiciously not-spoken-about-often - film hold up today? Greg, Casey and Dan called each other up to find out. Before that, they talk about pop culture they're thankful for in 2020, aka. the things we're watching now.

And then, they all talk about some music they have added to the third Time Bandits playlist, available now on Spotify. Featuring: The Talking Heads, Steely Dan, and much more.

    • Nightmare City (1980)

This time on the podcast: Greg, Casey and Dan are social distancing, but that's not going to stop them from watching an Italian not-so-Zombie movie! After watching the movie online, everyone got together on voice chat to discuss everything from crusty zombies to how and why a clay statue can bleed.

    • Battle Beyond the Stars (1980)

We're back! Back in time... for a brand-new episode of the new season of Time Bandits. This time around, we're going to travel 40 years into the past to celebrate a film of our choice, and along the way we'll be making throwback playlists based on the month of 1980 we end up visiting.

This episode, we are going to check out the Roger Corman produced Star Wars also-ran titled Battle Beyond the Stars! Or is it Battle Amongst the Stars? Either way, this movie is the beginning of a number of major motion picture careers James Cameron who picked up the slack behind the scenes with special effects, ship-building and more. Not only that, this film serves as the meeting-point for some very important movie relationships that would lead to the creation of some huge, huge movies! So were we dazzled by the stories behind the movie more than the movie itself, or is it a really entertaining and charming film? We've got your answers!

And finally, all three of us have added tracks to the first-of-many Time Bandits Playlists! Check out the tracklisting below and click here to go listen for yourself!
