  • Brandon Neely - GTMO Vet, Stolen Valor Exposer, Fellow Bourbon Snob
Brandon Neely is a former US Army Military Policeman with tours in Egypt, Cuba, and Iraq. Once falsely accused, he was one of the first to speak out against the charges stemming from Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. He went on to serve during Operation Iraqi Freedom 1 in Iraq. Brandon has since discovered the magic of bourbon and we discuss price gouging and the thrill of the hunt. Brandon is also very well immersed in the exposure of Stolen Valor on Twitter and has done amazing work in the field to bring honor to those deserving of it. We wrap things up with a discussion of the ongoing situation in Ukraine and how our current elected leaders may be leading us astray. Grab a glass! There Will Be Bourbon.

  • Matt Somerlot
Matt was the winner of the bourbon giveaway last month and I stole the idea from someone who said that I should have on the podcast whoever it was and drink with them. Well, that is what happened and Matt turned out to be a genuinely interesting guy with a lot worth discussing. Matt is a native Atlantan with a deep appreciation for history, trivia, and scripture, whose claim to fame is that he somehow found a way to interconnect these interests into a book called Finding His Story in History. He went to college thinking he'd be a doctor like his dad, but the Physics buzzsaw ended that dream and he majored in Biology/Horticulture. He also spent a lot of time in the art building, studying art history. He loves to volunteer for causes that support the disabled, disenfranchised, or those looking for connection. This has meant equine (horse) therapy, Team RWB (veterans), and Play Catch, his current project. Matt is the embodiment of what I wanted to do when I first set out to do this podcast; an average American with anything but an average story. Grab a glass! There Will Be Bourbon!

Where else would you rather be? Grab a glass! There Will Be Bourbon!

  • Congressional Candidate Joe Kent and Fellow Retired Green Beret Javier Mackey

Joe and Javier's careers first crossed paths at the Special Forces Qualification Course. Both went on to deploy multiple times to countries in the Middle East before retiring. They share several stories of their time together and about the early days of SF training while preparing for the Global War on Terror. Joe is also currently running for Congress in Washington state's District 3 and gives us an update on how the campaign is going after receiving some powerful endorsements. He's also got some advice for those men and women out there considering running for office themselves. Javier and I then discuss in depth his work with the Flanders Field Organization which has been working to get interpreters out of Afghanistan and over to America and continues to raise money to do so. Javier also shares some emotional insights into Afghanistan and why he feels we weren't ultimately successful. There may also be an in depth discussion about the state of hip hop and why it died decades ago. Grab a glass! There Will Be Bourbon!

  • Javier Goya - Global Commodities Expert
Javier has been working in commercial global commodity markets since he was 21 years old. He had dropped out of college and was working behind a bar and on ranches when they would take him before that. He was in a bar one night playing pool when the table behind his friends needed a 4th player. He agreed to play. Those guys hired him into the commodity market on the spot and he never looked back. To this day, the only explanation he has is that he was good at drinking and numbers. He likes tequila. He hates the Federal Reserve. He despises China. He is on Twitter, where I found him, to promote new ways of thinking about complex ideas and to promote family first as a solution to societal problems. Grab a glass! There Will Be Bourbon!
