Thermostats and thermometers both deal with temperature yet have very different functions.

One just tells you what the temperature is while the other sets the temperature for the room. You have a choice in which one you are.

But be careful. You can be the freezer or the heater. Are you the one bringing the room down or lifting them up? Energy is contagious, so be sure it's the right energy.
