Welcome back to Waiting on the Trade, a monthly comics book club for people who don’t have time for monthly comics!

In this episode, guest host Bryce Manning helps us examine current events, U.S history, and the connections between the two, as we discuss George Takei, Justin Eisinger, Steven Scott, and Harmony Becker’s They Called Us Enemy.

  • If you also have not been as aware as you should be of the growing number of hate crimes being perpetrated against Asian-Americans, here are a couple articles I read before we recorded this episode: The Colorado Sun, The New York Times.

  • The U.S. did also inter some Italians and Germans during World War II. I found that out while reading this article about the Supreme Court’s decision in Trump v. Hawaii, which apparently did not explicitly overturn Korematsu v. U.S.. (Though it did state the Korematsu ruling has been “overturned by history.”)
