Expertly written, as always; Waide Riddle's talent for evoking the macabre is undiminished and in full force in this tale of bullies and rather doomed love. There's a reason ghost stories and tales of night are so effectively set at Christmastime - all that forced joviality calls for balance - and if a bit of Christmastime urban darkness is your cup of tea, you'll enjoy They Crawl On Walls. Like the gothic masters of old, Riddle creates from the heart. Superbly narrated by Faris Monshi.

Heart wrenching

Waide Aaron Riddle has a gift of writing scenes with precise descriptions to bring you in to the story from the start. He writes from the heart and the truth. It is worth reading multiple times. They Crawl on Walls is during winter of 1945 in Chicago.

Bitter cold, horrid stenches, and bullies are the battles of life outside. In contrast, experience a heart wrenching glimpse of life as an orphaned top-dog newsie doing his best to survive. Keep tissue near.
