    J. Warren's Remains is an insular story, almost claustrophobic, as we first join Mike Kendall where he lives: walled up in his own mind. As the book progresses, Kendall is drawn back to his hometown of Placerville when the remains of a long-missing boy are finally found, a boy Kendall shared a complicated history with. No matter how much Kendall tries to resist the underside of the mystery behind Randy McPherson's disappearance, he must confront the lies that he has built his life upon.

The scenes are well-trimmed and lean, devoid of much scene setting so you can get to the action or the emotion quicklyâRemains is a highly intriguing mystery as well as a fascinating look at one familyâs dysfunction.

That can adequately encompass how good this book is. It's an amazing story, I highly recommend you added to your must read list.
Remains is a fantastic novel hindered by a lack of editing
Remains is a fantastic novel hindered by a lack of editing. I loved the story. The narrative shined through when it was not hindered by repetitive stanzas and overwrought colloquialisms. The author convincingly conveys the personality of the characters and has a believable murder mystery which stretches the boundaries, but doesn't cross into the fantastic. I look forward to the next book. This one is definitely worth your time.

If you truly love books this is the book for you
All the other reviewers have said it but I can not help putting in my two cents. I absolutely loved it! I read the paperback edition and the experience was a surprising adventure full of action, suspense, love, assault, fear, depression, eagerness, acceptance, bullying, intolerance, romance, finding oneself, trash talking between different types of publications, sorrow, laughter, friendship, anger, gentleness, sympathy, and protectiveness. This work's author touched my heart. I have cherished books all my life and look sadly upon those that do not because they are missing the world. Do not worry Bob you will always have a home with me and my gang of beloved books.

Bob the Book, is a wonderful, comic exploration of post-modern identity formation with anthropomorphized books voicing their truth from behind often contrary covers, paralleling their owners frustrated attempts to access their own natural, pre-packaged identities.
At a used book sale, Bob, a book whose content can be categorized with either queer studies or gay pornography, written by Harrison R. Stone, Ph.D., meets and falls in love with Moshie, a less ambivalent scholarly book titledâ
Beneath the Tallis: The Hidden Lives of Gay and Bisexual Orthodox Jewish Men.
From this allegorical premise one immediately understandsâ Pratt loves word play. With childish delight, he spins a fable probing the depths of false identity that obscures the human search for true love. A multi-layered, playful sample of the text follows Moshieâs purchase by a female buyer:
âBob hoped that dark-haired woman was a scholar, as Moishe had wished for. Moishe had mentioned his wish to be marked up, highlighted and underlined, with Post-its stuck to his pages, and to live with someone forever. Bob hoped that Moisheâs dream was now coming trueâ (25).
With this multi-tiered word play, Pratt draws the reader into a probing examination of how we are all caught in the identity matrix of editing ourselves into pre-conceived hierarchical roles that overshadow our emotionsâ crippling our ability to connect with ourselves and others.
This is a very funny book, exploring profound issues that serve to trap us all behind layers of false identity.
A Unique Idea awaits in Bob The Book
This is an amazingly unique concept to teach the ups and downs of gay life in America. It was truly enjoyable from start to finish.

    Great story
Waide Riddle is an awesome writer. He manages to keep the reader spellbound as he weaves his tale.
An Urban-Gothic Tale of Doomed Love Superbly Narrated
Expertly written, as always; Waide Riddle's talent for evoking the macabre is undiminished and in full force in this tale of bullies and rather doomed love. There's a reason ghost stories and tales of night are so effectively set at Christmastime - all that forced joviality calls for balance - and if a bit of Christmastime urban darkness is your cup of tea, you'll enjoy They Crawl On Walls. Like the gothic masters of old, Riddle creates from the heart. Superbly narrated by Faris Monshi.
    Heart wrenching
Waide Aaron Riddle has a gift of writing scenes with precise descriptions to bring you in to the story from the start. He writes from the heart and the truth. It is worth reading multiple times. They Crawl on Walls is during winter of 1945 in Chicago.
Bitter cold, horrid stenches, and bullies are the battles of life outside. In contrast, experience a heart wrenching glimpse of life as an orphaned top-dog newsie doing his best to survive. Keep tissue near.

    Publisher's Summary:
For fans of The Danish Girl, an extraordinary transgender love story about self-belief and the true nature of courage.
Best friends since childhood, life takes very different courses for Will and Tom when they leave school. Tom joins the army to become a man. Will goes to university and discovers he's not. When Tom turns up on Will's doorstep almost 10 years later, he's disillusioned and broken after surviving Northern Ireland during the 1970s troubles, and with a broken marriage and no future. Will, on the other hand, has just embarked on a completely new future for himself - in his case, a very different kind of self; a woman called Billie.
As Will transitions from male to female, so the boyhood friendship between Tom and Will changes too. Initial shock and repulsion on Tom's part becomes grudging respect, and eventually something quite different. But life - and falling in love - is never that simple; and especially not when it's in the face of prejudice, fear, and lost courage.

    Give this book a chance
I was gifted this Audio ARC for a honest and unbiased review from the author/narrator.
Debrah Martin wrote a well developed book. It was a beautiful story between long time friends. It reminds me of the movie When Henry met Sally. One of my favorites.
Rob Groves made the characters come alive and I couldn't turn it off till it was finished.
This book is not for everyone but I loved every bit. Give it a chance.
This is so freaking good! Emotionally exhausted
This is such a gut wrenching character study that I'm afraid to use those words in case someone thinks this is anything other than one of the most breathtakingly, heart wrenchingly fabulous stories I've ever read. This is right up there with Dr. Zhivago for capturing two people swept up in a world beyond their understanding, only the focus here is drawn in microscopically tight on two people you're not even sure you like when the book opens. By the end, I was driving through town sobbing (because I'm a commuter listener) and ready to kill the author because I thought, "No. There's no freaking way she can pull a Happy Ever After out of this." Except she did.
This is turning into one incoherent review because I refuse to give ANY spoilers beyond what I already have. The feeling is still raw, hours after the end. I don't want it to be over. But I'm glad it is, because I am emotionally exhausted. You don't read this story, you don't listen to it, you darned well FEEL it. The author is so incredibly good that she reaches deep into your guts and rips out feelings you don't even realize you have.
I hesitated getting this, because it's not something I would normally choose. This isn't my usual light entertainment to zone out the world. This is a deep emotional experience and will probably end up stuck on one of those lists of books that people are supposed to buy but are afraid of because it's so good. Love Story only better. Notice how I keep referencing really HUGE books? There's a reason for that.
The narrator absolutely NAILED the voices. I was so deep in the story and the character's voices so recognizable that I forgot I wasn't hearing real people. Genius!
Just get it. Set aside a serious block of time and lose yourself in it because you'll be snarling at anyone who interrupts you.

In fact it's very good indeed. Beautifully drawn characters. Rich description. The writer draws you into their world so skillfully you feel like you are in Bulgaria with them. This is the best fictional novel I have read in a long time. It is recommended reading on a course I am due to do. I wouldn't have chosen it normally but am glad I did.

From that moment on, Dylan and Sam are thrust into a roller coaster of self-discovery. For them, even life's most ordinary moments - brushing one's teeth, playing a game of basketball, watching the sky - become precious. Sam's Story is a poetic and heart-melting listen.

... is a heart melting LGBTQ poetry book about forbidden love between two teenage boys in South Carolina
Sam's Story is a heart melting LGBTQ poetry book about forbidden love between two teenage boys in South Carolina. The writing style flows so quickly, mimicking the obsessive thoughts of new love and manically bringing us from tears to laughter with each chapter. Dylan's narrative reminds readers of the painful transformation that love forces us through, reevaluating our past and with each new relationship and the struggle to find someone who maybe, for once, is on the same page.
    I love this book!
A beautiful story of Gay love written with truth and compassion. The author lured me into the story and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. It was a pleasure !
it's like a huge poem of love
This Book is a must read, it's out of the ordinary. Alone it's written style makes you want to continue without putting it down, it's like a huge poem of love. The story takes you on a journey that is truthful and honest. Homosexuality might be the foundation for this story but through the author's writing we can see that love really is the same for all human beings. The story is touching because it is sincere, and told from a very innocent perspective. First love is something we all identify with, and we can all remember how we felt our first time. This book brings you back to that time.
I love the book and recommend it to everyone who wants to dive into an extraordinary style of writing that is touching and different then all the cheesy cliche love stories we find nowadays. Dylan Joseph succeeds in creating a sincere love story that everybody can relate to who experienced first love at one point in their life.
    Couldn't put it down!!
Couldn't put it down and read it cover to cover in about an hour. This is an astonishingly epic story!!! What a gorgeous tale of two boys discovering what it is to be gay and dealing with the obstacles in their way. The book reads like pure poetry and Dylan Martinsen writes so fluidly. It's page after page of art, totally immersing you in their world.
The best thing I like about this is being able to follow the characters they mature and deal with the Mustache, the main character that kind of represents the "older generation" of homophobia, and on a bigger level, of fear. When's the sequel coming out?
    Red, the color of love.
Dylan Joseph gives voice to a young man in need of a lifeguard. What starts as an innocent and lazy vacation become something so much more. Our narrator takes us on a journey that reminds us what it's like to fall in love for the first time. Falling in love can feel like drowning and we all may need a lifeguard when swimming in the Deep end of that pool.
This is a story you won't soon forget.

"Oh, hey," Chip said lamely, spinning on his heel. "I didn't think you were still here." Seeing Brenden's confused look, he clarified. "No limo."
"Oh, yeah." Brenden looked down at his boots, the brown leather just scuffed enough to be fashionable. "I hopped an Uber over. I thought maybe you'd give me a ride back to the hotel so we could talk."
"I see." Chip's jaw tightened slightly. "I have my bike, so that won't work, but I'll wait with you if you want to get that ride back. We can talk while we wait."
"I was really hoping we could get some time alone to talk without being rushed," Brenden offered quietly. "I have a lot to say. Doesn't your bike have a passenger seat?"
"Yeah." Chip's voice was clipped. "But I don't carry passengers." Not anymore, anyway, he thought to himself. Brenden had been the last person to sit behind him, clinging to his waist, as the powerful Harley had devoured the road.
"Okay." Disappointment registered clearly on Brenden's face. "Will you come back to the hotel with me?"
"Naw, man." Chip stared over his shoulder. "I can't, not tonight."
"Winston, please?" Brenden's voice held a pleading note. "I really need your help."
"Don't call me that," Chip snapped, sharper than he meant to, and then felt a trace of shame as the smaller man took a step back. "Sorry," Chip muttered, shoving his hands in his pockets. "I go by Chip now."
Brenden nodded. "Chip, then. I really do need your help."
Chip sighed, long and deep. "Get your ride scheduled and tell me what you need."

    Publisher's Summary:
PopDaddy is a novel from Southern writer Jeffrey Roach that recounts the heartwarming and hilarious tale of how he and his partner Ken started a family in one of the unlikeliest places. The book takes place in the early 2000s, when single parent adoptions were the only way for a gay couple to adopt a baby from Guatemala, and begins when the couple's best friend announces she's pregnant. Ken wants a baby too.
What follows is a whirlwind 18-month journey that takes them from Dallas to Guatemala and back, as they work to bring baby Jackson home to meet his big, extended family. Along the way they discover that being "out" takes on a new meaning when the duo becomes a trio and that the word family is broad enough to include them.

    Funny and Moving!
    Any additional comments?
To baby or not to baby? That is the question! At least its a question Ive been asking myself a lot lately. With my thirties about to run out, I feel like its now or never for my husband and I, and Ive been on the fence for too long. If only there was a super fun book that could help me decide! Enter PopDaddy, Jeffrey Roachs debut novel. This true story is about the author, his hunky husband Ken, and their decision to adopt a child together. Fifteen years ago when such things were much less common. Oh, and theyre living in Texas. To answer your next question, yes, Jeffrey and Ken are crazy. Or brave. Maybe a little of both, because this story isnt a dry account of the forms that need to be filled out, or long drawn-out trips to the courthouse. This book celebrates how nutty family can be, both the one we are born with and the one we later build for ourselves. Kevin R Free was the perfect choice as narrator, since the humor in this story plays to his talents as a performer. At eight hours long, PopDaddy is a light but engaging audiobook that will leave you wanting more.
    Loved it!
Wow, this was a really good, happy, read and I loved listening to every second of it. Definitely going on my favourites list that I will listen again and again. I love books like this, simple but powerful in the delivery and the message.
Kevin R. Free is as fabulous as ever. Perfect narrator fit.
    A feelgood story
What did you like best about this story?
It's a heartwarming story about two gay men's journey to fatherhood in the US (Texas) in the early 2000's. The author writes with a lot of humour, and captures the trials and tribulations of two brand new parents so well.
Have you listened to any of Kevin R. Frees other performances? How does this one compare?
He's a new to me narrator and I enjoyed his voice and performance.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but RL obligations prevented that.
