In the final episode of the series, Apoorva and Molly sit down with Apoorva's dad, a gas survivor, to reflect on the process of creating this podcast, what "They Knew Which Way to Run" really means, and the power of remembering.

In Episode 6, we discuss how Bhopal may be today if the Tragedy had not happened, how the survivor-activists have changed since then, and the unbelievable heights they’ve reached present-day.

In this episode, we learn about what’s happening in Bhopal today: a parallel crisis that was brewing under Bhopal at the same time as the gas tragedy, also the direct result of the Union Carbide factory.

In Episode 4, we hear the next chapter of Rasheeda Bi’s epic story, about Warren Anderson - the now-infamous CEO of Union Carbide - and the messy start of the compensation distribution.

In Episode 3, we hear from one of Bhopal’s most famous activists, Rasheeda Bi. She tells the story of how the world failed to take care of her fellow survivors after the tragedy, and how they, in turn, took their destiny into their own hands.

Episode 2 tells the story of the scene in Bhopal the next morning for the survivors, how the Union Carbide factory and gas leak came to be, and the many controversies surrounding the tragedy -- starting with the death toll.

Episode 1 tells the story of the night of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy -- what life was like in Bhopal before the gas leak, and how everything changed on one winter night. 

They Knew Which Way to Run is a 7-episode podcast series that tells the story of those who were able to escape the destruction wrought by the gas leak  and those who weren’t. The Bhopal Gas Tragedy shows the start of the rot caused by unchecked capitalism, by environmental racism, globalization, and corporate greed. Decades later, the world still has not learned the lessons this disaster had to teach us. Using 80+ recorded interviews and interweaving personal reflection, conversation, and narration, Bhopali-American and Fulbright Scholar Apoorva Dixit and her childhood friend Molly Mulroy present the story of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy and of the Bhopalis who were shaped but not defined by the disaster, of hope, of resilience, and of memory.
