Colonized Beauty: Unlearning What History Taught Us
In this episode of Thick Girl Theology, we pull the sheet back on the lies history fed us about race, gender, and worth. From slavery to modern body standards, we expose how “beauty” was colonized to control and divide. But the truth is this: God created you, and your body is good. Your race is good. Your gender is good. Your personhood is good—because it is usable in the Kingdom of God.

We’ll confront how Christians, too, were tangled in the machinery of hierarchy even though God’s Word declares, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). We’ll also call out the dangerous rhetoric still dressed up in religion today—reminding those who hide behind the cross while demeaning others that they might have good company here on earth, but no friend in heaven.

And just like in Scooby-Doo, where the ghost was always a person with an agenda, we’ll unmask the same spirit at work today—the one that profited from slavery and now thrives on fear, division, and control. We are called to expose the cowardice behind the white sheet and trust God to deal with them as only He can.
