...Have you heard of the Rule of 36? Most people know the Rule of 72 which will calculates how long a sum of money will take to double at a certain rate of return. For example, if you're making six percent, your money will double in twelve years. It's a LAW of Mathematics. The Rule of 36 is reserved for Dividend Growth investors who reinvest dividends in companies that GROW their dividends. They get both the increase in share price over time PLUS the growth in the dividend rate over time. The results can be REMARKABLE. We'll review an excellent example today. In case you hadn't noticed, the future is getting just a tad more unpredictable every day.  When you are putting a financial plan together for RETIREMENT, you are smart to plan for the worst while always hoping for the best.  Annuities are not for young investors. They are for those planning a retirement that is not subject to the whims of bad markets and economies.  The key benefit that modern day annuities may provide a retired person is a contractual guarantee of principal and income—regardless of market conditions. There are four different types of annuities, and due to current low interest rates and volatile markets, THREE of those types may not be as advantageous as the fourth. That said, all four kinds of annuities are allowed by the IRS to fund an IRA Rollover. Today, Steve will review exactly WHICH annuities are leading the pack. Then Medicare expert Shelley Grandidge joins us for the Q & A. A fact-filled show you don't want to miss...MASTERING MONEY  is on the air!!!

Today on Mastering Money, we begin a series on how and where to invest in the inevitable trends coming our way. Too often, investors take a haphazard approach to the market, doing it themselves or settling for a cookie-cutter portfolio from a big box brokerage.  Here’s the problem: your portfolio will likely look the same as almost everyone who walks through the door of the same age,  and answers the risk tolerance questionnaire in similar fashion. That's because the models are put together for uniformity and for legal protection for the big box broker. But where does that leave you? With a cookie-cutter portfolio that everyone else has!  That approach didn't work out so well in 2008. Today we'll review how to invest in the INEVITABLE trends coming our way. Then mortgage expert Mitch Boxberger joins us.  A great and TIMELY show for you today...MASTERING MONEY is on the air!!!

Most investors, especially in or nearing retirement, seek to reduce risk while growing capital prudently in the stock market. Gains are nice, but large drawdowns are sickening, especially in retirement when you don't have an income stream from a full-time job and time is no longer on your side.     When time IS on your side, and because most bear markets tend to last only six months to two years at the most, you are able to rebuild the value of your account simply by staying put, and not rushing for the exit. FACT:  The only people who lost in 2008 and 2009 were those who sold at the bottom. The market has some room to run according to experts, but we all want to keep a good share of money OUT of harm's way. But are bonds the answer for the safe money side of your plan? Today, we'll examine why Warren Buffett says that bonds are a terrible investment. Then health insurance and Medicare Specialist Shelley Grandidge joins us.  You don't want to miss today's show...MASTERING MONEY  is on the air!!
